There is a process that is set forth by the State Department.. There are lots and lots of document.. Not only that , the backup in the system is unreal as well. Have you ever heard of a fiance visa? An american can marry a foreign national however they first get too visit for 2weeks then they go back and you can apply for a fiance visa while you wait for marriage... they are typically issued for 6 months up to a year.Smurfy said:

i guess its true what they say.. you have to be in their position to understand. its true what chewyxrage says.. their living situation and conditions must be very bad to do what they do to get here. as a mother (and human being, for gods sake), i know that i would do whatever it takes to provide for my family if was living in a poor country-- even if it means having everyone hate me. im not saying its RIGHT.. just saying i have emphathy and i UNDERSTAND how desperate they must feel.

ohhhhh i knew this would come up. FYI, as someone that works for the government, let me tell you how much of OUR taxpayers money goes to illegal immigrants. ZERO. im a social worker, ive worked for the government for 4 years, ive granted benefits for the public, and no matter how poor any person is, if they are not here legally, they do not get any public assistance. period. illegal immigrants work too and they pay taxes too, yet they dont even get benefits that they've paid into such as disablility, social security, unemployment, etc. they lose it and u know who gets it? They risk death, carry everything they own in a grocery bag, all so they can get a minimum wage job and share a 1 bedroom apartment with 6 other people.
If any of you were in their position you would do the same.

Look, what I stated was simple - someone said that there wasn't a taxpayer cost for illegals being here. I pointed out there clearly was. I never said I'd let a child die by denying them healthcare. That's beyond ridiculous.
I pay for my healthcare through insurance and when the bill shows up for extranious costs, I pay the bill. I am in the systme and I contribute.
Illegals are not and do not. They get billed they throw it away. They don't have insurance, they don't have anything to loose. To compare the two is sillyness. I never said there was secret socialized health care - but the fact is they show up to our hospitals with babys that need to be birthed and other life threatening afflictions that we will not and should not refuse to treat. And they don't pay the bills. Someone absorbes that cost. The taxpayers of the united states do. Come back with some valid points.

As a tax payer. If some of the money I already pay was being used to pay for a mother to give birth or a person to get help in an Emergency room... I would not care... Matter of fact, I would be quite happy about it.
Legal or not, a human is a human. These people put much more into the economy than they take out. As far as I'm concerned, I HOPE they are all healthy so they can work they fields and I can keep eating produce grown in America.
Before you worry about illegals and how much they might cost us when they visits a hospital or go to school. Maybe you should worry about WHY it cost so much to provide health care in the first place or how some of the other gazillions of dollars are wasted and dumped into bullshit we don't need.
If all of the illegals in America were deported TODAY and the borders shut to keep any more from coming in. YOUR TAXES WILL NOT GET LOWER. Several American companies will go out of business and you WILL find yourself spending more money on day-to-day things like lettuce and tomato.

They broke the law coming here, enough said, Deport them all, at gunpoint if need be. Fuck them. Enough is enough. Even when they do manage to acquire English skills they still struggle for cultural reasons that teachers simply are not at fault for.
The School across the street is 95% Hispanic and losing part of its federal funding because of NCLB. The teachers are blamed for the kids failure.. as if its their fault the parents are more worried about getting their kids into menial labor jobs than into their homework... they CONSTANTLY pull their kids out of school. Every bullshit Mexican holiday, family reunion, etc.. the kids are pulled for days if not weeks. Oh but somehow thats the schools fault.
Olive elementary had such a problem they had to put up a sign out front (In Spanish of course) that reads "You MUST bring your kids to school every day"... oh ya these folks REALLY care about education.
Im SO glad so many of you live with this every day.. are surrounded by it like I am and have real world experience to back up your bleeding heart opinions.

Legal immigration is a very hard, very expensive, very lengthy process as the US doesn't want 'foreigners' to come over and 'take their jobs'
Even getting a temporary work visa is a lot harder post 9-11, you clamped down on the nurses, IT professionals and teachers but somehow forgot to secure the southern border.

I was very anti illegal immigrants for awhile..and i still am somewhat, but i can't blame them for coming here. In a ravaged country, you have zero chance of making it.
Now the problem i have with immigration is making sure the RIGHT people come into the country. No criminals, or people that will not contribute to society. There's so much space in america, so who really cares. as long as they don't overrun the city and become the majority and not contribute to the american culture.
