Why can't I sleep when I'm hung over?

It happens to me every time. I go out, get loaded, get to bed around 4:00 AM, then I wake up at 8:00 or 9:00 AM, feeling tired and shitty and as much as I try, I can never go back to sleep. WTF? Anybody know a reasonable explanation for this?

Anybody else have this problem?
 
I am the same way, doood. It is horrible. You spend the entire next morning and day just waiting for night so you can fall asleep again.

Yeah, its worst when I do this 2 nights in a row.
 
Same way here too. I usually end up popping a klonopin or an antihistamine rather than laying around all day feeling like shit and feeling guilty for not getting anything accomplished. Do you smoke cigs when you booze? I used to smoke like a champ when drinking and I noticed that all the nicotine would make it harder to fall and stay asleep.
 
I get that too. Real real nauseous, if Im not vomitting, or waiting to vomit, Im to fucked up to sleep and just have to wait it out for a while. Once I vomit a few times I may be able to sleep, with a bucket right by the bedside.
 
No cigs, but I do smoke weed.

Although I still can't sleep, I find that smoking weed in these types of morings helps to atleast lay there and relax, plus it numbs the hangover feeling.

Wish I had some right now.
 
I'm living your situation right now. Woke up at 10:30 this morning when I gotto bed super late last night after going out drinking.

I'll just sit around on the boards, eat, read some and than go out tonight and do it again.

Enjoy your weekends man. Weekdays are for sleep, school and work. Weekends are strickly for living it up and enjoying yourself and rewarding yourself for all the hard work you do during the week.

as for Sundays I do nothing.

yep because i feel sick as a dog, which is why i dont binge drink :)

before you drink take a few humdred milligrams of vitamin b12 (cyanocobalamin) as its the only agent shown to actually decrease the degree and duration of hangovers

try popping a sleeping pill (antihistamine is best, since they last for a while- so you can take it before you sleep and itll last all the way through, rather than you having to get up and take it)

I am the same way. If I have any of my RX Xanax left I pop 1 mg of that. If not sometimes I'll slam a beer(if I can stomach it).
 
crazy how slamming a beer definately helps a hangover

just your body craving more alcohol, and then delivering it :D

it works.
 
i also wake up super early after a night of drinking, what i do is down some aspirin and lotsa water and for some reason that helps me pass right out again.

I can't exactly recall were I heard this, but I was told that this is the reason "a hair of the dog that bit ya" works.

There are 3 stages to alcohol break down, one of the stages is a toxic type of chemical similar to a poison. When you consume too much alcohol, the body cannot convert the toxic chemical into the next phase, so it stay in that stage in your system, thereby making you sick. The next day, if you have another drink, it starts the process over and the toxic chemical is moved on to the next stage, so you feel much better. Any biology/chemistry guys know if this is some what true?
 
Probably not enough water in your system. Be careful not to drink too much, or you will dehydrate you body.
 
Because you're afraid of waking up rolling in your own puke?
