Why are steroids illegal and immoral?

Perfect answer. PERIOD.

Not so perfect, bro. While plenty of people have experienced negative side effects from a.a.s., that alone will not make a substance a scheduled drug. If that were the case, then alcohol would be off the shelves. How many people will die from alcohol abuse this year? Get killed in drunk driving crashes? How many people will cigs kill? How many people will die b/c of health complications brought on by obesity? You think whisky, Marlboro, or the whopper is on a controlled substance list? Nope. Though alcohol, tobacco, and fast food are messing more people up everyday than a.a.s. use could hope to do in a century. Whisky or Winstrol, which one do you think will yield greater political capital by outlawing? Outlawing a.a.s. was feel good stuff to the voting public. But, how do you think the voting public would have felt about losing Jack Daniels? The voting public would have been pissed! Jack will damn sure kill more people in a day than winny will in a hundred years. But the voting public wants their Jack, so he stays and winny goes. This ain't a democracy, it's a hypocrisy! That's where were at.

With all of the experience I have had, I believe that AAS must be by prescription only. I do not believe that AAS should be a controlled substance. It really doesn't fit into any class of meds in any of the Schedules. Almost all of the Scheduled meds are physically addicting and one could die from an overdose from most scheduled meds. This is not the case with AAS. Second, doctors would need to be educated in school and CE seminars on the practical use of AS and the ancillaries. Today, most drugs are used to treat diseases/symptoms and not used for prevention. The public/government has worked hard to eliminate the use of these meds in sports competition-this effort has failed. That's why the meds were Scheduled in the first place.

The private citizen, within reason, has the right to optimize their fitness and health. If that means doing HGH and Test injections, then so be it..The research points the way. But all of the ingredients discussed above must be present. Take a look around. Is every doctor practicing anti-aging/longevity medicine? DrJMW

Great post guys,
Alot of you are right.
1. If they were legalized there would be a bunch of morons abusing the shit out of them.
2. the gov't makes more off of illegal drugs than if they were legalized and could tax them. try 300 billion a year on illegal drugs.
3. By being illegal it keeps those who really want to be big mofo's , big mofo's with the exception of a the occasional idiot.
4. gear should be illegal but not a class 3 drug like heroin (that's politics for you).
5. If they were legal you think the gear would be that much cheaper? look at how fast the cost of health care is going up. it's almost doubling every year. old people give thier entire social security check for a few meds that control thier BP, and cholestoral. Of course, some would be cheaper than they are now but not by much.
5b. How much you want to bet the companies would make less effective gear if legalized. thier would be a flood of new drug companies making gear at who knows what dose.
6. If you look at the US people's reaction to bodybuilding you will find your answer. Sure, it's more popular than ever but not popular enough.
7. Ask yourself what your first thoughts of gear were before you knew anything about it. Or the first time you found out one of your huge friends or favorite BB used gear. It was a total mind fuck wasn't it. Multiply that by about 200 million americans and there is another reason why gear is illegal.
8. Bottom line the uneducated public is scared of anything they don't understand and will do anything to keep things the way they are because their afraid of change.

Illegal nobody knows for sure the reason probably because nobody spoke up for it

As for immoral there is NOTHING immoral or fake about steroids and the muscle you gain off them . Nobody calls iit imoral when a bald guy uses rogaine or porpecia in hopes of regrowing hair, nobody yells at people who buy colored contact lenses and that fake ,people dye there hair all the tiime , hell i knwo a girl who pulled a geek to hottie by dying her hair, geting blue contact lenses, boob job nobody thinks thats immoral

God forbid any poor joe wanted to stay natural after they were legalized. Talk about bieng chastized..."You can get AS at CVS and he looks like THAT!?"

I think they should be illegal, just descheduled.

Also to anybody who gives u the whole speech about the dangers of steroids to shut them up ask them to name a steroid besides testosterone because since there such experts they could probably name you these horrible drugs that have these horrid horrid side effects right? wrong!! i tried this on 6 people so far i mostly got well its not important the names , but the funniest answer i got was "o i can name you one gorilla hormones"

Good point. You can put plastic in your body, or inject botox in your face, but you can't use steroids for cosmetic reasons. BULLSHIT! You should be able to go to a plastic surgeon and say, I want to be 300bls at 5% BF, and they should be able to right you a script for what ever you want. Along as the doc explained the risk and gives you blood tests and ancillary drugs, then what’s the problem. I don’t see a difference between the two, either legal or moral.
