Why are some people SO nosey?

I don't know why people can't mind their own business, but that is like my pet peeve. Some people just have nothing better to do obviously.

Actually, no one on EF has ever asked me personal stuff.
Here is another good example; just came in 2 hrs late (sick from meds I am on and up most of the night). I walk in and 3 people come up to me and ask me why I'm late? I didn't answer any of them.
How can you deal with these people politely? I've tried and now I'm going to have to be rude and ask them to mind their own biz.
I would NEVER EVER ask anyone where they were if they were late or were not in.

ok, this just happened.......a guy who doesn't even work in my dept walks into my office and says "Good afternoon"
I replied "What does that mean?" (I knew what he meant)
He goes "Well you are 2 hrs late"
I replied "How come you're keeping track? Don't you have better things to do in your life? It makes me sick how all of you infringe on my privacy"
Then I asked him to leave

NOW I'M MAD!!! What a way to start a day
