Why are ASSHOLE doctors still employed? (Help my testicles..)

Hi guys,

Sorry for posting this here but I really need some help, FAST. I know some of you guys are very knowledgable with this stuff.

I'm writing this post more as something I'm going to bring to the 4th doc I plan to see tomorrow, but if any of you can offer me some insight, I'd REALLY fucking appreciate it since I'm freaking out.

First of all, I'm 21.

About 3 weeks ago, I drank too much water and waited to long to pee. Long story short the next day I had difficulty urinating and pain in the abdominal area.

I immediatly went to see a doc. Did a touch-test on abdominal area and determined nothing out of the normal. Was sent to do blood work + urine.

2 days later I did the blood test.

Shortly after the blood test... I started experiencing discomfort in my testicles. I felt as if they were hanging lower than usual and just basically felt dull and achy... self examination didn't really show me anything out of the normal.

5 days later blood test not back yet... so I went to another doc (my main one) because the symptoms persisted. I was given oral antibiotics (2 week run). No touch test.

1 week later I notice a LUMP at the top of my left testicle. It's roughly 1cubic inch and moves around freely (not attached to testicle). It's soft and when squeezed gives me a dull aching sensation. After a few google searches I'm CONVINCED its Epididymitis or Spermatocele since it describes exactly the same area, etc. At this point the abdominal pain is gone but I still have a bit of difficulty urinating.

1.5 weeks later (today) just saw a 3rd doc. Some foreign guy... ..First I peaked at the blood results. It showed high creatinine (I dont take creatine)... high albumin.. high colesterol (from what I remember anyway..) so anyway the doc did a touch test on my testicles for exactly 5 seconds. Since they were sort of hard the lump I was talking about didn't really show. He said that I was perfectly fine and completely dismissed the fact that I still had trouble urinating, etc. I told him I was really worried and would REALLY like to see a urologist. He said that I don't need to. Eventually I was begging him to apoint me to a urologist to make sure everything was fine... he just said the blood work shows no bacteria so I'm fine. At that point I asked him if there's any chance he could help me see a urologist and he said "no chance" and shooed me out. Fucking ASSHOLE.

I'm going to a 4th doc tomorrow... random doc again... I live in Canada so its free but I still need to be apointed to see a Urologist.

Any help? I'm fucking worried as fuck. Plus with school starting I'm stressed like I never have been before. I'll update if there's anything I forgot.

I told him I was really worried and would REALLY like to see a urologist.

Doctors fucking piss me off...they suck....don't ever forget that they are human. Get 2ond oppinions and allways goto a specialist in a given area of concern. It is your body, not theirs...they don't give a fuck.

go see a urologist. He will schuedule an ultrasound and will then review it with you to show you if you really have something wrong or not.

there are protein ingrowths of the skin called "scrotum pearls" that sound a lot like what you have. I have one that i've had for 5-6 years and doctor told me as long as it never bothers me it won't hurt anything. It sounds exactly what you are describing..........mention that to your doc maybe

How big are they? Mine is roughly a fourth (approx) the size of the testicle but its tucked neatly between the top of the testicle and where the pelvic area starts so you can't see it unless you "push" it out.

well, i supposed they could be in different places, mine sort of floats in there but it connected to the scrotum somewhere. I don't remember any exact medical terminology he told me, only "scrotum pearl" and that it was a protein ingrowth or something like that.

just throwing that out there, im not sure if thats the same thing as you either though. but from my limited knowledge here as long as the lump isn't on your testicle directly that is a good sign

Just curious as to how this (what you think you may have) was caused by holding your pee in for too long. I didn't think the scrotum had anything to do with urine flow.

The American Medical Association is the strongest union in the world they are the only union that protects and supports their own!

They limit the number of medical schools, medical students and medical doctors. This protection is primarily focuses on maintenance of doctor income.

Everything else is a very low second. Patients are not even in the top ten.

It is strictly a matter of personal wealth.

You really are convinced that you're sick, huh? I would trust the advice of one doctor; let alone the advice of 3 of them.

Canada, eh? If it is that important to you I would see some one in the States.

no go to 2 or 3 urologists

gps dont know squat. Have a scan.

I had trouble with ed...persisted for years. I persisted until it was figured out what was wrong. I had years of my sex life wasted cos of pplo not believning i had a problem.

Dont make a huge issue, just sort it out.

DEMAND a urologist this could be a sign of prostatitis.

in canada you cant see a specialist without a referral from a regular doc...so whoever you are going to see, be very insistent that if he finds nothing wrong, that there is nothing wrong and you REALLY need that refferal, dont leave without it

same as my dad when he was diagnosed with prostate cancer. but this guy is way younger which is the reason i wasnt going to post about it. sounds very familiar though.

get to a urologist asap. it got alot more painful as time passed for my dad.

Wow,

Unabashed hatred... its a positive thing when used for Good -- and I understand the frustrations of users of this board have since so few physicians have bothered to educate themselves regarding AAS/HRT and stick to the dogmatic "party line" that steroids are Evil.

First off, the AMA is not a union. Not even close. They are incredibly ineffective at lobbying and M.D.'s do not have to join ... in fact, most (myself included) are not even members.

The AMA has nothing to do with the number of medical schools and practicing physicians. The fact of the matter is that since 1975, M.D. income has steadily declined, malpractice insurance and actions have steadily increased and these facts have led to decreased interest in medical school by college students in the U.S. There are less applicants and those that do apply seem to want to specialize (go into a surgical or procedure-driven field) and not go into a primary care practice. There is actually a surplus of specialist M.D's in the U.S. -- not a shortage. There are not enough general practioners and pediatricians (the primary care doctors), but since they make around $100,000/year (or less) and must excel in college, then go through 4 years of medical school and a minimum of 3 years or residency (where they are paid below minimum wage, btw), you can see why so few American students are opting for this career path.

It pains me to see posts like this, because patient care is really the only thing that got me into medicine in the first place. I'm a trauma surgeon and I deliver primary care to injured people. There is no screening for insurance (half our patients have none, btw) and I do it because it is one of the few fields in medicine where the impact is huge: we typically have critically ill young patients and when everything goes well (which it usually does) we get the joy of seeing them be completely well again.

Let me clue you in to how medical reimbursement works. First off, insurance companies and hospital corporations absolutely control how much doctors get paid. Physicians are completely impotent when it comes to making a stand here. Doctors receive less pay than they did in 1975 to perform surgeries on Medicare patients (the largest "insurer" of Americans). That's less in absolute dollars -- not inflation-adjusted. Let me give you an example. If I go to the ER at 2AM and see a person with Medicare with a ruptured appendix and take him to the OR (to save his life, btw), the reimbursement for that procedure and all of the post-op care for the next 3 months is (drumroll, please): $137

That's right... $137

I wonder how much a plumber would get to come to your house and fix a leaking pipe at 2AM?

Let me give you another example of how insurance companies continually rip off physicians: If I perform an elective procedure on a patient, I have to ask for authorization (it's like giving them an estimate). They approve the procedure (with its attendant fee). Routinely, they then pay about 1/5th of that fee and tell us to fuck off when we appeal, knowing that we as individual physicians cannot battle them legally given the exorbitant cost of legal counsel and a prolonged court struggle.

It would be akin to you hiring a painter to paint your house, him telling you it will cost $5000 and when its all done, you hand him $1000 and tell him to pound sand... unbelievable.

I'm not saying we're perfect -- far from it -- but it isn't the easiest profession in the world and we deal with life and death. I think we're entitled to a little love... that's all.

with regard to the original question... :worried:

Two things. First, give us more information. Is the mass painful (I mean even when you aren't pushing on it)? Do you have fever ever? Is there ever pain or burning with urination?

Second: the squeaky wheel gets the grease. If you've had this for a while you need a test to confirm what it is. Generally that test is a duplex ultrasound (with doppler) of the testes. I am not a urologist, but I know a lot of them and they ALL order this test. You have to rule out the big stuff... like cancer (which I doubt you have).

Go to a female doctor -- they're usually nicer and they don't like dealing with balls :) You want a urologist and you want one now, dammit. You want an imaging study or some test to make sure its not cancer! Mostly you want the reassurance of a specialist in the area.

Hope all works out for you,

Jerol

dude you sound fine to me...you seem to be having some anxiety problems...either way the first problem sound like a totally seprate problem form the second one...The first problem sounds like a mild case of an urinary infection, or Interstitial Cystitis...it's not a big deal and seems like it went away, this happens somtimes if you hold your pee for too long... from the description of your ball problem, it seems totally normal.

I hope you maintain your positive attitude, & patient focus and I pray you are very successful medically and financially.

God knows we need you!

I will save my comments about third parties & insurance carriers

that is your spermatacile. nothing to worry about bro. sometimes they get inflamed, but , yes, even if you think your doc is an a-hole, he does know what to look for and if it was a problem he would say so. A tumor or growth on your testicle would be hard as a pebble or a rock and pointy or sharp, that, I would worry about. But if this is on the top of your testies, then yes, that is fine, and if its a little bigger than normal for now, it could just be inflamed. If it's squishy, it's fine. Now with that being said, there is a possibility in all of your 'jack' sessions, that you could have your spermaticles tubes actually twisted around, but if this occurred, you'd be in a lot of pain. I'd give it a week or so.. Also, if you are on juice, and your a few weeks into your cycle, the pain you are experiencing could be from the reduction in size of the testies starting to occur and that can be painful, but nothing to worry about.

Spermatoceles and hydroceles are usually benign conditions where if anything you would feel discomfort on/around the testicle, not with urination. Agree with jerol, way too fast for a malignancy.....testicular problems shouldnt lead to problems urinating. Epididymitis can cause discomfort along nuts and into inguinal area (like you are saying) and can be caused by reflux of sterile urine up the VD.
Would have been nice if your dumbass doc found out WHAT was causing this before he gave you an anti-B, dickhead.
Get an ultrasound, be more adamant with your doctor also.....if he says "nothing is wrong", say "listen up guy, its my balls and my dick and im TELLING you SOMETHING is wrong, it hurts when i piss, dont tell me im fine when you havent even checked me out thouroughly"......at least thats what i would say.

The lump could be several things. A cyst, varicocele (dilated vessls), herniated bowel, calcification, enlarged epididymis, cancer (least likely though). Ultrasound would be helpful and sounds like you need that referral to get it. Try the female dr like someone suggested and show her what you are feeling. The urination problem doesn't really sound related to the testicle problem but could be the prostate. If prostate was enlarged the PSA would most likely have been high on the labs, unless maybe it wasn't done. Good luck.

I had a similar pain last year but only on one testicle.. my first primery Dr. did not find anything wrong and only gave me pain killers, the second time gave me bactrim for infection{2weeks}. Six weeks later again the pain on the same tisticle. I visited an urologist on my own 2 months later after the pain was too strong and had blood in my sperm/semen.. urologist found an infection, but i was way too late. the infection was not only in my testicle but on my bladder and prostate gland.. gave me cipro for 5 weeks {that is a long time} and was good to go. my insurance did not cover this because my primery doctor did not refer me to an urologist so I was stuck with the bill for about $500... take care of it as sooon as possible .hope this is not what you have ........

Hey guys,

Just want to update you and get some 2nd opinions:

I saw my regular doc again.

He examined the testicle and the mass. He told me it's just my epididymis. He said it was probably there all along and that I only noticed it because I'm paranoid.

THERE'S NO FUCKING WAY IT WAS THERE BEFORE! ITS ABOUT 2 CUBIC INCHES IN SIZE AND ONLY APPEARED A FEW WEEKS AGO!

The pain isn't THAT bad but I'm concerned because of 2 things:

1) The volume of my sperm when I ejaculate is definitely reduced.
2) I feel a very weird/subtle strain in the enlarged area when I ejaculate
3) If it's that big... it's probably infected (epydidimytis) will it go away on its own?
4) Will working out make it worse? I've already stopped working out legs since this whole ordeal started and I probably lost 10lbs of mass in the legs alone. They're fucking toothpicks!

Luckily... it (the mass) hasn't gotten much bigger.

Blood/urine results came back and showed no sign of bacteria... but I was prescribed a 2 week run of antibiotics just in case (before the results came back in) and strangely it relieved a few of my symptoms which came back promptly when the course was completed.

I still have a weird stinging/burning sensation in the entire abdominal area when I drink anything over 500ml of water at a time (I used to be able to down 2litre bottles of water without any problems.

Also, my urine is CONSTANTLY yellow, cloudy and has a strong odor, no matter how much water I drink. Before this all started, my urine was ALWAYS clear and odor-free.

I'm about to go get a big cup at the clinic that I'm suposed to pee in for a 24 hour period for a complete urine analysis.

I'll update you guys as soon as I get the results from that.

God damn this sucks.. :(
