I kind of did my own thing... and I guess I still do...
how's this...
I was the aloof jock who everyone thought was in special ed cause I was in all honors classes and I never had any classes with non nerds... I averaged a 3.7 in honors but I slept in class all day and had a pic of me sleeping in class in 3 out of 4 yearbooks. I was team captain and went to state in a couple sports but I never really tried to get anything out of it (didn't care for popularity much)... I thought the popular kids were sissies and enjoyed showing up at their parties with a case of beer or a fifth of southern comfort and encouraged mass chaos to break out... I used to throw parties when my parents were away, I supplied the kegs (and I supplied several- not some rinky dink 1 keg party) and I casually collected the cash at the door with my louisville slugger in hand and you knew not to fuck up or break something... I got in my fair share of brawls and more than held my own, but after a time, I didn't really have to fight anymore I had enough history... I rolled out with a small crew of 5 or 6 dudes- half of them went to other schools and we pretty much were outside the clique systems in our respective schools... I could go where I wanted and do pretty much whatever I wanted and date whoever regardless or their "status"... It seemed I blended into a variety of the regular groups (the jocks and popular kids and other groups always liked me).... I never beat up anyone who didn't deserve it, and I never picked on wimpy kids or kids who weren't popular... I would not say I was popular, but I had a good reputation people thought I was a nice enough guy, most people knew who I was and I got respect...
