who plays guitar?

is there anything wrong with shred guitar?

I suppose not, except that it doesn't fit every song.

Kind of like slap funk bass. There are some guys who just try to cram it in wherever they can, whether it fits or not. You know the old story about how if your only tool is a hammer, then all challenges look like nails?

never heard of that anology.

i like shred guitar, but tasteful... im sure there are dozens of bands that use it that i dont like.

metallica is my favorite band, and theres really no shredding in there. i do like dream theater, and there is a shred solo in almost everysong. i only like a few songs btw.

i think i like playing it more then i like hearing it. i like Waking the Fallen, the 2nd a7x album, again very minimal shred, i think one song has a shred solo.

i love shred, but i dont like to abuse it

that was a good shred solo, i cant use the whole fretboard like that yet, im not comfortable or have that much control, im sure that comes with time.

personally, id NEVER bust that out in a song. but id play like that just for the shit of it.

i dont really like that neo classical sound, its alot of stretching and string skipping.

i like to shred in the harmonic minor or pentatonic scale. sound is everything to a player (duh)

its easy to shred with out a background rhythm, but id like to join a band so i can make up some nice solos. like One, or Master. the interlude is so basic when you break the notes down but sounds fantastic. thats the kind of music i wanna make
