is something wrong with norton?

Norton is total crap. If you talk with any computer guru, coder/hacker etc... they will all tell you not to use Norton because its totally junk. And thats with any of Nortons products.

Good Products:
Firewall go with: Outpost Personal Firewall
Anti-virus go with: Avast---Its great and its free.

There's nothing wrong with Norton; although they sold out to Symantec and haven't used the Norton name much anymore. Every company I worked for except one has used Norton/Symantec AV products.

Yep...The free version of Zone Alarm works excellant. I've been using it over a year now with my cable modem..never had a problem.

IPCop

Opensource.... free....

Works great. Keeps a nice log of anybody that would try to mess with you.

ohh jeez

Cisco 501 which I used to have at home, Netscreen 5XT which we have at work....there's a bunch of good firewall boxes around $500. At the low end ($100-150) the Linksys and Netgear dsl/cable routers are still good enough to keep 99% out and more easily configured.

hell, i only spent $36 on my router.

so those NAT firewalls really do work, eh?
