Who Is For Public Executions???

It's barbaric.

It's uncivilized.

It's disgusting.

It's... so human.

I don't see why anyone would object.

absolutely not. they did those things in afghanistan. the UN built them a football stadium, and they hung people from the goal posts

It is a shame that we still have executions. I support capital punishment in this day and age simply because humanity is still in its infancy at this point and is unable to handle dangerous criminals any better. I do think it's wrong, however, and that there are much better ways to handle this kind of shit without the taking of more lives.

Then again, if everyone thought like me, we wouldn't need police or jails or executions to keep all of these stupid primates under control.

No silly... we'd keep them imprisoned for the rest of their natural lives.

;) lol

though i think this is a better solution. with some hard labour thrown in :) only certain prisoners deserve rehabilitation

Aren't you the man who sped in a school zone, where slow speeds are necessary to ensure that drivers can stop on a dime? what if a kid had run out in front of your car, and you were speeding. would you have had time to stop?

I'm all for the current justice system. I just think valid therapy needs to play a larger part. A sizeable percentage of severe criminals come from an environment that endorses crime.

no. what would be the purpose of public executions? certainly a "civilized" country like the USA doesn't need to hold public executions.

is a public execution any different to one behind closed doors? are we hiding the killing from our eyes because we are afraid what our reaction will be? why is one more reprehensible than the other?

1) No. I am the man who was driving his vehicle at the posted speed limit outside of the school zone who was stopped by a police officer in a speed trap who claimed that I was in the school zone when in fact I was not, which will be proven on March the 25th in a court of law.

2) Yes, I would have had time to stop.
2.1) I was stopped at 1:46pm - 14 minutes before dismissal. There were no children within 100 feet in any direction.
2.2) My vehicle is able to reduce its speed from 30mph (my approximate speed) to a dead 0 in less than 4 seconds.
2.3) Given the fact that visibility was perfect that day, and that I had my eyes on the road, I would have had more than enough time to stop in the event that a child ran out in front of my car, despite the fact that it was 14 minutes before dismissal, I was on the other side of the median, and contrary to popular belief, children are not that stupid.

3) IF somehow I was in fact speeding inside of the school zone, which I was not, AND it was during dismissal, which it was not, AND a child did run out in front of my car, which one did not, AND I did hit and kill/seriously permanently injure the child, which I did not, I would not object to ANY form of punishment.

Unlike most, I am capable of accepting the logical consequences for my incorrect actions.

Try again.

They are both equally reprehensible to me.

I think we should have execution "games" on pay per view and give the proceeds to the victim's families! I can see it now. Have a spin wheel with different execution methods on it. Where ever the arrow stops is how you will die!

China has done public executions. Some involving big drug dealers and local politicians. Plus I think it was on TV there. It could be an idea. Why not. If you can prove me it will make a difference then I agree.

I am all for public executions. I dont agree with this "humane execution" shit. If someone murders another in cold blood, he should be beaten to death on natiuonal tv by the family of the victim.

I think american society is far too violent as it is, public exectution MustSee TV would not lessen this at all....quite the opposite of course.

Why would I want to see anyone die?

People should be punished for their crimes, but the taking of another person's life should not be trivialized.

Hell the way i look at it is that we do it anyway so hence we have the blood on our hands anyway also. SOooooo Let the government sell tickets ans tax it, let payper view sell it as well. You get the point.

Just because it happens now behind closed doors does not make it any less real.

I dont see why anyone would not object to this. Why should my tax $ pay for Rapist, Murderers, child molesters ect....... to have more rights in prison than i do out and then to do it again! I think it would most definitly cut back on crime to have Public Hangings again. I also like the ideas that others have about the games on TV and stuff.

Id rather watch an execution than a boring football game. I guess after watching a couple though it could get boring. They can make it some sort of a game where the guy is gonna die but it would be fun to watch him struggle for his life. A game nobody wins. Kinda like that swartzenegger movie..

I don't oppose the death penalty in favor of the alternative in this society. BECAUSE of the alternative in this society, I SUPPORT the death penalty. I'd oppose it if the U.S. were a civilized nation. We'd be able to discipline our criminals without having to commit the same acts on them as they did to others.

A dead murderer won't be able to kill again... I wonder how many convicted murderers get out and kill again?

Yeah. A dead perpetrator of insurance fraud won´t be able to commit insurance fraud again either.

How many get out and kill again? Why don´t you research it?

If many do (I doubt it) it´s probably to make way for the pot dealer who just got a mandatory 10 for getting busted for a couple of kilos with INTENT TO SELL! Nooooooo!!!!

All the comments you guys left were really good, but do you think people would think twice before doing a planned murder???
