Personally, I think taking L-Glutamine as a supplement is a waste of money as the cost to benefit ratio makes it a pointless addition to any athletes diet. (Glutamine powder/ capsules are quite expensive in Britain, or at least where I live.)
Although Glutamine is predominantly found in muscle tissue, amino acids can only be properly utilised when in the correct ratios with other peptides, so IMHO ingesting amino acids individually is a waste.
With the exception of; vitamin/ mineral/ anti oxidant pills, and glucosamine/ chondroitin supplements (only 2 that come to my mind immediately), I regard all other "non hormonal" based supplements as pointless, including creatine, in terms of cost to benefit ratio.
As some one previously said, sticking to food sources for your amino acids is alot more cheaper and a more efficient means of getting that much needed protein.
