You can get DVD players now for $50-60, so theres not much of a reason to not have one by now.

I don't have one simply because I don't feel the need to go spending extra money on something that wouldn't mean that much to me. Plus, the DVD's are all way more expensive than the VHS tapes, anyway. I think I'll stay old school for a few more years and then if I ever start making some more money I'll splurge for it...LOL.

Video tapes are ok and a well maintained tape will look decent but the bottom line is DVD's look much out the box than video tape. Not having to deal with rewinding anotuher bonus, but the thing to note is video tape degrades over time. DVDs don't. Trying popping in a 10 year old video tape and see how good that looks. And the funny thing is Betamax was the superior tape format but we all know VHS won the tape war.

I bought my home computer in '99 with a dvd drive. I have the setup connected to the tv with a s-video cable and the pc's sound system is dolby with a subwoofer. I found out the hard way that I can't play dvd-r or rw format so I am now considering buying a player.
