I TALK TO MANY PEOPLE AT MY PLACE OF WORK AND SOME TELL ME THAT THEY STILL OWN THE VHS SYSTEM AND NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT OWNING A DVD PLAYER. I FIND THAT KINDA SHOCKING BECAUSE MOST PEOPLE OWN AT LEAST 1 SYSTEM....I THINK.

no kidding man, been watching dvd movies for the last year or more. watched a vhs the other night and it was like watching an old black and white western. quality is like comparing Nintendo to xbox. Nintendo is no doubt better lol

I dont have one.........and dont particularly want one. I think that too many people get hung up on this type of stuff.

I don't have cable TV either.... I suppose when the VCR goes, I'll have to break down and get one. I have so many tapes for the kids though.. A DVD player would mean that I couldn't use the tapes and I just don't have the funds to invest in DVD'S.

Computers have been around for a long time and generally make your life easier.........and for me it is essential for work reasons. A DVD player is hardly essential........and I have no doubt that it will soon be superseded by something else. So many people buy them just to have the latest gadget.

Oh and the computer anology would only stand if you compared whether it was Pentium 3 etc.......

You can find a combo vcr/dvd player on sale some places for like $150 bucks. Think of that when your current vcr dies; then you don't have to give up on the tapes for the kids.
