Who here pays for music downloads?

the pay sites have crappy bitrates. like apple's default is 128. that's atrocious!

i'd demand at least 320 if i dropped $1 on something

no matter what the bitrate, it's still mp3 which means it's been compressed to SH*T and lacks any real dynamic range. I do all my recordings in 192khz 24 bit and lemme tell you, there is a whole'nother world out there that everyone's ears are missing. It almost hurts to dither down my recordings to cd quality at 44.1khz at 16bit... yick. DVD audio is at least approaching what modern recording software is capable of. Why is everyone pushing mp3s... especially with storage as cheap as it is lol.

you're right dude. even if i don't compress the files at all, the quality still doesn't compare to listening right off my vinyl

320 is the lowest i can go and still have everything be kinda crisp. 320 seems pretty high, but it's still a quarter the size of the original
