Who here is Rich?

BuggyWhips

New member
I hear people like Ryan H who just got out of school talking about how they were driving around in Infinities and Mercedes..I m still in school and I drive a Mazda. How do you afford these...do you come from money or are you just lucky?
Kev

I measure I person's worth by the quality and quantity of the friends they have. In that respect, I am rich.

I don't recall Ryan saying that.

You should be happy - Mazda's are very good cars.

Even though the prior CEO of Mazda now drives a 540 BMW
*drool* V8 *pant* .

Besides, to chime in with Corn's thinking wealth is not always measured in dollars.

as long as i have a car or the means to get around i'm happy. i really don't care if it's an old car that runs fine or a lexus.

i'm lucky to have the car i have at the moment, although i'm not sure if i can keep the lease payments up... depends on work i can find when i'm done school.

happy Scrappy sent me a case of potted meat for Xmas. I think he is rich.

Did it have tiny penis's in it. Love Slingblade !

( in my best Billy Bob Thorton voice ) " Um alright then "

I dont have a car and I dont need one. I have a good life, I'm happy and I'm healthy and thats all I need. Fuck the rest.

Like it's already been stated here, money is not a way to measure worth. I know people that are "loaded" and they are the least happy people I know. Sure they are comfortable, but they don't speak to their husbands or wives, other than to tell them where they're going to be, or planning some social function.

There is more to life than how much money or how many toys someone has. When your dead and gone, people aren't going to say "he sure had a lot of money". They will remember the type of person you are.

Thumbs up to what big and corn said here. What somebody drives is not an indication of wealth. You can drive down a street in my town and it is lined with shacks and cadillacs in the driveways. Doesn't make sense to me. I live on a street with big houses and nice cars in the driveways. Of course, I'm still paying on my '72 Pinto and '74 Gremlin. So, I'm not rich but I have rich neighbors!

I am poor right now...but I am happy
BUT after I am a brain or heart surgeon in like 9 years
I will be making 1-2 million dollars a year. I will be 30, but I will be rich!!!!

I am gonna buy a nice car too!!!

Are you in the US?

If you are, you know very little about the doctor/hospital/insurance relationship.

I am and always have been financially set for life thanks to old money and familly inheritance, but I don't consider myself to by rich in all aspects of life. I have good health,I have many people to hang out with, but I only have 2 real friends in which I can truly trust. I run my own small business, but It will soon be an international business within a matter of years. But my relationships suck big time and can't seem to find a good chick to settle down with I don't even think nice girls even exist any more. But if I had a good and steady relationship with someone I would then consider myself to have complete wealth, but for the meantime I don't like to consider myself to be totally rich.

I have a roof over my head. I eat well. I have people that love me. I'm very rich.

I also drive a mini-van but let's keep that as our little secret, K?

The question was simply: "Are you Rich?"
not "In what way are you rich?" or "Are you happy?"

Ever notice how those who don't have money yet want it always seem to say
"I have friends that love me, and money does not make you rich. Blah blah, blah... "

The problem is that for those that think into the future (e.g. their 60's and 70's) a roof over your head, food on the table, and good friends ain't gonna cut it. Remember the grasshopper and the ant?

Sorry, but it is far better to be sad and rich than sad and poor.

Anyway, who the fuck cares whether or not you're rich?
If you're an asshole, you're still an asshole.

heehee. You're that guy in the commercial where the guy is doin' the 'lat walk' until he hears his license plate and description of his car as a minivan over the intercom. He then cringes with embarassment. heehee.

That's okay. You're a practical guy. You get points for that.

My friends make fun of me for it a lot but it is the "sport" model and is faster and more comfortable than their econo-boxes and who gets called when someone buys a new TV or something? :D

Not really, if I went abroad to work and left the National Health Service I would be better off.

But I love my work, I have some great friends my health and I am happy.

Here, people use Merc's as Taxi's! I had one(second hand) about 5 years ago, lovely car but it was the servicing that killed me.

Matt- I do understand about HMOs but the reality is that doctors still get PAID!!!

Omar,

The average doctor's salary in the good old USA is $160,000 per year.

Surgeons are higher. It's not HMO's that will keep you down.

You have a lot to learn. But you seem motivated.

The truth is that doctors don't make nearly as much as people think. Some doctors especially here in canada are very underpaid and make only about 100.000 per year and that's why most doctors move to the united states where they can make alot more. The doctors that make the most money are the highly respected plastic surgeons who have their own private clinics. They can make an excess of 1 million per year, but for a doctor working for a hospital, there is no way they will make an excess of 1 million per year. In reality doctors are very much underpaid considering all the money they have spent in medical school, but the good thing about being a doctor is that you can live a very good and respectfull life without having much money worries, but an average doctor cannot live the life of a multi- millionaire.

You work/study in medicine?

Julez-
I am actually an MIS major studying business and premedicine at the University of Texas at Austin. I just took the MCAT last summer, and I am applying to medical school this year.

I have volunteered in the Radiology field at the VA hospital, and I have done research w/ Neurologists. With some of the classes I have taken, I am defenitley into the human brain, I think it would be bad ass to be a brain surgeon

I have done very well for myself all thing considered.

At great cost...I have very few friends...the ones i have are very loyal...so that helps a little.

Truth is I pretty much am just always working.....so in your quest for wealth i would tell you to enjoy your job or business and that just might be all you have to your life.

At least it could end up a large part of it.

I tell people work is 70% of mine.

Interesting. I used to go out with a Neurologist..... (University College Hospital).

Cardiology is my area of intrest, and is, where I believe the money is.

Still, go for it! I think you'd make more £££££'s as a business man though.

Ryan H posted the cars he had in a thread from a few days ago. He i in a lease now for an infinity? that he was saying he hates. Anyways, what I meant was wealthy in the monetary sence since he just actually became a lawyer and I was wondering If he worked while in school or just had money to begin with.
I like my Mazda very much, I just finishedpaying it off...Its an
Mx-6 but next year I hope to get the New RX-8, maybe have it turbo-ed..

I am not rich.....I am financially challenged also. Sometimes I worry about how a bill will get paid....it never used to be this bad....but ya know what......in a blink of an eye you can lose everything.

I have a roof over my head, a wonderful family, wonderful friends, wonderful people on this board that are willing to help me, I have goals, I have dreams, and I have a future to look forward to (that's why I'm still in school and I will be in school for another 5-6 yrs) keep me and my family happy and secure so we won't have to worry about money.

If you're talking about money rich....NOOOO far from it....but I am rich if it comes to friends, family, dreams.......

I stumbled upon quite some cash a while ago *cough*dotcom*cough* and lived the nice lifestyle .. now I'm relatively back to "normal", and I gotta say I like it a lot more. I just want a nice house, a nice family a few cars and tons of bikes. Am I asking too much? lol
