Who here actually types with all ten fingers?

I learned the key layout very well during my Red Alert addiction (two finger typing), and then used some typing CD-ROM to learn the actual technique.

I took typing classes in school because they were mandatory. Never could type for shit and had to watch what I was doing on the keypad.
Then in college once I started being on the computer all of the time, I just picked up being a better typist.
Now I can type crazy fast.

I can recall that one client I dealt with was trying to tell someone else that I was good with computers and they said "he can type really fast" and they just nodded their head as if "oh yes, he MUST be good".

I do. I used to just type however was the fastest for me, but now I actually keep my fingers on the home keys (well, ok, I sometimes keep my fingers on the home keys). And ok, so I only use my pinkies for maybe the shift key. I can still type fairly fast, so I'm content.

I only have problems when reaching up to the numbers..Typing was the most useful class i ever took in high school...

Same here. I took one my junior year in hs, and I type 70 wpm. I use 8, and thumbs for the keyboard.

yes. i speed up my typing even faster by using alll lower case and omitting punctuation
