If you are ready to try it and you do not know that much about it I would do a lot of reading about it, especially what happens if you permanently damage your thyroid.
Your thyroid regulates more than your metabolism and, unlike your testes, it is very sensitive and can easily get shut down - forever.
Imagine being permanently depressed, eating 1500 calories per day and not losing weight, having a "fuzzy" memory, and cold extremities - just to name a few of the symptoms of a bad thyroid gland (hypothyroidism). Also imagine getting 12 hours of sleep at night and waking up tired and remaining tired all day.
If you are willing to risk all that to lose 5-10 pounds then go for it. If not, listen to Nelson and get some supps, and tweak your diet and exercise and do it the safe way.
How do I know all of this? My thyroid gland quit working a few years ago. It was pure hell. I now have to take synthroid ED for the rest of my life. It sucks.
