Who has tried Absinth

I've never tried it. I'm not much of a drinker, but I wanna give it a try. I ordered a bottle called Ulex Strong. How much do you drink to get the effects?

For those of you who have never heard of it is what Van Gough and Hemmingway used to drink and was in the Movie From Hell with J. Depp.

oh to be back on the cruise ship in Christiansund Norway.
you can get absinth on any of the cruise ships that go between norway and sweden!!
 
I love absynthe. The problem you are going to face is there is a loty of sh-tty absynthe being sold on teh 'net. A good bottle sells for about $60. A bad bottle sells for about $60... so price comparisons won't help.

The Chezh absynthe is usually the best that is available to people who don't know what to buy. The very best absynthe is only available through private shops... and like "sources" they operate in the gray and shadows.

Satanic Goatslayer is a big absynthe fan as well.
 
as far as flavor,it's fucking awsome (licorice).Theres a way of straining it over sugar cubes that gives it full potential for flavor.
As far as it's effects,it felt like alcohol to me.

I read something similar as well. Or was it a much smaller percenatge of the active ingredient?
 
I got it in the mail today. Worm Wood is the avtive ingredient in it. Thurjone is what comes from the worm wood that gives the trippy effect. There can't be more than 10ppm or something like that. Mine has 35ppm. I ordered it from a private shop overseas. I also ordered 2 kits tht you make with vodka.

Well, there is a drink called "Absente," which I believe is absynthe, sans the active ingredient. It's like $33 a bottle.
 
I think mine is the real deal. I also have a bottle of Sebor on the way. I'm not big into drugs of anything, but just want to give it a try. I'll let you know tonight the effects.
 
I just had some Absinthe when I was up in Canada.

Its good if you have a couple of drinks of it. Gives me a nice high, pretty energizing.

But if you go out and get wasted on it.. like have 5+ drinks (each shot is nearly 200proof) you may wake up the next morning and not remember what the hell you did all night.

I like the smell, licorice.. but it tastes like hell.

Which would basically make it green vodka. Ya gotsta have the active ingredients.

I got mine up in Canada.. it was 190proof or something. Many of the sites i see online seem to have a lot of stuff that is much less strong.

It is believed that daily long-term absinthe use could cause problems. But you'd be an alcoholic also, since absinthe is a liquor.

I think most of us on here are smarter than that.

Has anyone bought one of those kits off eBay?
 
I didn't think you could get legit moonshine in Canada. Where did you guys get it?

I can't. I get mine from the legendary Green Lady herself... and she doesn't allow internet referals. She doesn't even list her name on the internet (You can still find articles referencing her, though. She is THE absynthe celebrity... and can't quite hide from her fame.)

I'm going to place an order with ehr soon. If you want I can grab you some bottles then.

Just tried some. It is really strong almost like everclear with a weird taste. Not that bad tasting. Way too strong for me to drink without mixing it. I'll let you know if I cut off my ear..
 
sebor is the best. its brewed with the absinthe leaves. hey oubeta, you ever try that homebrew recipe i sent you?
 
Got sebor on the way, haven't made the homebrew yet. I ordered the stuff to make it though. How much of this stuff do you drink?

and a question, is it legal in all parts of Canada? i mean, is it available in shops and the like ?
my friend brought me back some from a trip to england (well they bought the absinthe in France)
