In order to be totally legal in all 50 states, I carry a 5 - D Cell MAGLight flashlight in my truck at all times within easy reach.
It's Hard to find this 5 cell model but worth it.
It's about 20" long , thicker than a D cell Battery,weights about 5 Lbs and is made of thick Aluminum.
I have only had to grab it once to defend myself in a situation, but it has come in handy for other things as well.
Cops will bust you for a baseball bat or pipe in your vehicle in Fla
but this is totally legal and very effective and handy as well.
And yes, I know how to use it due to some past baton training.

If you actually are shaolin experienced, people scare me. I'm gonna start packin guns. I try to stab a fricken shaolin and hes gonna grab the knife by the blade and stab me with the fricken handle.
Maglites are cool. HAMMERS are cooler. hammers are completely legal as well. Just don't make it look like a weapon. have a couple of screwdrivers, a wrench, you know, a tool belt setup.
