Who else thinks Tarantino is overrated?

Aside from being a certified asshole.

Sure, his films are entertaining, but painting him as original, a visionary, etc is bogus.

All of the mans films have been either ripped off of older American films, books, or straight out of asian films (he was almost sued for making Reservoir Dogs because its a direct rip off of "City on Fire.")

Am I alone?

Maybe but not as overrated as Spielberg

once again, we agree, 75th. from what i have seen of him in tv interviews, he deserves to have his car keyed. hsi films are ok.........but just ok.

(just not on the temporary occupant of 1600 penn ave.)

I think Pulp Fiction is, far and away, his best work.

alot of the rest are "good", but possibly overrated.

Pulp Fiction is one of my all-time fave's though.

I agree he is overrated, but he'sa decent writer. I liked Pulp Fiction, I thought Reservoir Dogs was great, and I thought True Romance was quite good. I didn't care for From Dusk Til Dawn except for Salma Hayek's dance.

I personally think Jackie Brown is his best work, but that's pretty much due to a really solid cast.

I think most of his "unique" ideas are stolen from other films/people.

So yeah, he's overrated. And he can't write fuckin' dialogue...although I'm sure many would disagree with me on that.

A lot of people think the same way you do, but I personally love Spielberg.

Munich is the bomb (no pun intended).

Spielberg did some great movies, ages ago, and still can do some good ones

but 90% of his latest stuff is just Hollywoodian crap for teenagers made for maximun profit

and from Schindler's List to Munich a lot of his movies are based on novels while Tarantino wrote most of the movies he directed

...So were Kubrick's movies.

Tarantino has stolen has stolen more than anything.

And Jackie Brown was based off a novel.

Reservoir Dogs = such a ripoff he almost got sued.

Pulp Fiction = his own.

Jackie Brown = A book.

Kill Bill = Any kung-fu flick ever made.

The fact that Spielberg doesnt write his own work doesnt mean anything.

I will admit that his recent movies have been either just plain bad (Lost World, Amistad) but most have been great (Schindlers List, Saving Private Ryan, the first 3/4 of War of the Worlds, the Indiana Jones trilogy, and now Munich...which is by far one of the best films of the year, and IMO better than Schindlers List in many ways).

Also, a bad Spielberg flick is still more entertaining than most other flicks.

As a man who lives in China and watches alot of DVD's i'd like to say that i think both Tarantino and Spielberg are awesome directors and not really overated.

I can understand if some people dont rate Tarantino as I know some people cannot relate or enjoy his style, but if you can, his movies are totally awesome, and frankly anyone who can make Pulp Fiction is just a genius as that movie is some insired work.

And Spielberg well come on man if he has made some commercial movies that suck, so what. That guy has made SOOO many awesome movies that all kinds of people can enjoy (different genres) that saying he is overated is ridiculous. He is definitly and very talented man when it comes to directing.

for sure
you only like his movies if you like the movies he stole the feel from
and, the episode of CSI he directed was horrible.

As was the episode of ER.

I think he only did it simply so he could get the feet of Carol and Susan on film for him to watch over and over.

what's this new horror flick out in theater's now?
Its called Hostel...it opens this month.

If you read around on the net about it, a lot of people simply like sucking the dick of Eli Roth (director) simply because hes pals with Tarantino.
