who else is gonna be up all night????

i just started the first of my four 10-hr night shifts.. was just wondering who else is gonna be online until 7am tuesday morning..

I worked in the semiconductor industry. Equipment Engineering support supervisor. Was a tech for 15 years before that.
 
nah, spring break, and I can't go on vacation since I have to move some furniture acroos a few states tues and wens. Plus the bar where I work closes during breaks, so no job for right now...
but man is my apartment clean....

I usually work night shifts....5:30 pm to 6 am......tonight I am actually only suppose to be "on call". But because I am a HUGE procrastinator when it comes to paperwork....I find myself sitting at my desk anyway!! :happyscra

I will be here, most likely until the sun comes up!! :)

Sure wish I was. I had almost 1.5 million before the stock market fail and now its now to 600 thousands. I figure I need at lease 2 million to retire, hopefully it will rebound. My plan was to retire before 40 but who knows now.

um.. same thing happened to me.. just on a slightly smaller scale.. $23k - $8k i took out for school = now down to $3k or so.. fucking shit ass nasdaq... but then again... it could be worse.. i could be in your shoes... :) j/p ...

It sucks to lose that kind of money when you grow up poor and then that fagget Alan Greenspan had to go a screwed up my future, all because he though the economy was rising to fast, so he decided to increased the interest rate, what 3 fucking times in 6 months and now no matter how much he drops it, it just won't rebound.
 
i dunno.. i don't think greenspan can't be blamed really.. he had to keep it from skyrocketing.. so he raised it.. had he not slowed the economy down.. that's just that much further we would have to fall....

But all the experts agree, if you raise the interest rate just once, it will take 6 months before you see the effect it will have.

ok.. you gotta point.. but.. how could you say that the economy would have slowed in a month.. or six months.. or a year ... or three years? what if he didn't do it? we'd be screwed either way..

exactly... and one more note.. it's a known fact that gdp and the economy follow a normal business cycle.. with a long growth spurt.. followed by a short recession/depression.. (short compared to the period of growth).. followed by another growth period...


i was never really worried about the economy.. and for good reason.. it was just following it's normal cycle.. UNTIL.. the fucking idiot media had to jump in and make a big hoopla over it.. all they have to do is mention "recession" or "depression" and people shudder.. clam up.. and stop spending.. well... in doing so.. they.. the media.. helped throw us that much further down with all the hype they created...

instead.. had they just been nonchalant.. as they should have been.. about the ordeal.. and explained to the uninformed american public that the economy does indeed go in cycles and stages of growth and recession.. and that the term recession is technically only a quarter in which the gdp declines.. no matter how much.. and that a depression is technically only two consecutive quarters in which the gdp declines.. no matter how much.. and that one or two quarters of decline... compared to 40 quarters in which the gdp increased... is merely a minor glitch... then i really think we wouldn't be in the same boat that we are in now.. not that it's a bad boat to be in whatsoever.. just that it would have been a little better had they not used the R-bomb as if it were the end of the world..

I'll be up all night. Again.

I'm supervising some first/second-year comp sci students in a computer lab right now. I answer the occasional programing question, edit some of thier code, and occasionally make one of them fetch me a coke from the vending machine down the hall. :)

If I had a gun, I would have killed myself several hours ago.
 
fuck that. what the fuck students are up at this time doing their work? lazy asses.. need to do that shit during the day instead.. lol
 
LOL! Yeah, they're a bunch of bums. :D

Actually, this is the only time (10pm-7am) the lab is available for students to work on the shit they can't do at home. The rest of the time it's being used for classes.

Believe me, I've bitched about it to school officials many, many times.

It sucks for everyone involved. However, I let the kids do whatever the fuck they want. Order pizza, drink beer, play videogames, etc. I'm well liked. :)
