my personal opinion on it is this.

Apparently I was asked because of my strong contributions or something (yeah, nice marketing).

But I saw a bunch of good bros get a taste of what it was like, a trial period, which I requested too. I didn't think it would be an issue since I was such a strong contributor (George's words, not mine).

If I'm not good enough for the free trial, then I'll just keep my hundreds of dollars to myself, or spend them where my contributions are more appreciated. I'm a lifetime play member, which cost me a couple of hundred, so you can't say I don't support the site.

Interestingly, the "chairman ban" feature was just created in leiu of banning (an option i did not have).

I wonder why eh.... coincidence? The chairman ban could've locked out the kids and avoided drama. Kudos to George, but too little too late for moi. :)

I think that all of georges hand picked members should get 30 days free trial. Not just a few people. All that he has invited.

This Chairman stuff, its going to ruin your board, I know Im not the only person to tell you that. There is no reason to be plat if you lose plat features to people that pay more that arent screened properly.

There is no reason to be plat if like 50 other regular posters go chairman, you reduce everyone into non plat status b/c you take away plat privileges that people THOUGHT they paid for, like disabling a plat bomb etc....

Just make a Chairman only board for Chairman want to interact with each other.
Ill make it for you if you want. They can send you the cash and play with all the admin features I set up for them and interact with other Chairman all they want. Just don't ruin the board by bringing them here and creating a class system. This just aint going to work, you can't train moderator skills into people that lack them just b/c they give you money

and yes there is no point to plat bombs now. It should have just stayed that you cannot bomb cotb, not made it so that their bombs are untouchable.
 
If I wanted moderator features, I'd just position myself to become one. Paying for it would be like paying for sex, probably feels ok at the time, but you feel like shit after (I'm just guessing).

Wouldn't that be POINTLESS then? Bombs that can be diffused are already pointless. If i bombed you now, you'd just diffuse. Then we can go on a merry-go-round for 30 mins until 1 of us runs out of karma.

Bombs are a horribly designed system. It's useless. Banning members in your threads, or getting vip access to talk to tech support is much better.

Razor, I dont dislike you, we always got along on the boards for the most part, we both like to argue and well this has been my viewpoint all along, just you going berserk last night brings the issue to the forefront, mine had a tinge of alcohol to add to the fun (makes me a bit more demostrative).
If paying members cant access the features such as bomb removal etc...
You rendered all of us plats into nonplat status last night.
Why Pay then?

Makes absolutely no sense, sure, PM box limit and search feature but interaction is why we are here, we don't to pay for or to be second class if its no different than non-paying third class riders. Two class system, multitiered wont work

thats what I was thinking. The first few got to try it for free for a while and we have to pay for it right away. I guess we are just not that special
 
Here is my question.....I'm not lifetime plat....I usually do 3 months at a time....let's say I do Chairman billed 4 times a year at $222.00 with a $75.00 discount=$203.25 (prorated $75.00/4=$18.75=222.00-$18.75=203.25) for the first 3 months and per clause.

If you ever decide that your Chairman Membership is no longer for you, you can revert back to a Lifetime Platinum Membership at no cost to you at all and with no questions asked.

If I opt out after the first 3 month / $203.25 payment do I get to have a lifetime plat and keep the 250,000 karma?? If so I think I'm game.

Yep. Like I said, i never designed the system so it would be silly for me to defend it. Not my baby.

For ex: I have a disney pass with vip access (used to work for disney). MY special privileges doesn't affect other park geors who pay for day tickets. There are at least 10 different 'classes' in disneyland, but once you go in - you'll never notice.

No will know i can dine at club 33, i can get 50% off food, i can get go any day of the year, etc.

There's gotta be more to COTB than just karma, bomb, view mod forum, etc. access. How about free ebooks, chat with professional bbers, get your blogs highlighted simialr to myspace, free dating memberships, access to sister sites for free (could even be adult or non-bb related), special access to travel discounts, discounts on fitness expos and shows, stuff like that.

I once paid $5000 for a cc membership, and the stuff i got was insane. And this was a C level cc.
 
Shoot me the day I care enough to pay for that.

swolenole, you have to keep it for a year to revert back to Lifetime, sorry. I think you would make a very good Chairman though.

I can understand how it might seem like that. The idea came about as a special membership to reward our sponsors who pay at least 20 times the price of the Chairman Membership and need to be able to moderate their threads. It just did not seem right not to make it available to our better members as well. I agree that it is very expensive though - but it has strong features and the revenue helps keep us online. I think you would make a good Chairman too.

It ONLY would've been legally binding if he actually paid for it after seeing it.

But he didn't, so he lost out at getting lifetime on a technicality. Now George is free to change it as he pleases.
 
I still dont get it. Why should you have to buy something that you were supposedly "specially" selected for? If people really are specially selected, then just make the plats that are selected COB's. All people are doing is paying for an upgraded plat membership. If it was something that had to be earned and could not be bought, then that would be a much better system IMO. But Im not interested in upgrading my platnum membership.

I think you can write off supplements and gym memberships, I wouldn't see why you couldn't write off this as health membership. I also think you can write off a certain amount of entertainment. I wrote off 1100 of entertainment, but most of it was out of town.

yeah but that was for out of town business expenses. My livelihood has nothing to do with fitness. It's unlikely to be audited, but eyebrows may be raised if someone sees $1200 - eliteFITNESS.com

I can't even write off my 24hr fitness membership.

I was able to write off my gym membership. my accountant worked for the IRS for 30 yrs. He said it was an expense.
