the smith bar only weighs 15 pounds as opposed to a normal bench which weighs 45, that may be why people think they cant lift shit... cause the weight they THOUGHT they had on the smith machine is actually 30 pounds less...

Some Smith Machines have no counter weights at all so they do weigh 30-45 pound depending on the machine. I use it when I train alone, which isn't often but I do. I have had to dump the weights off the bar in a panic more than once so I won't do bench alone anymore. Unless like I say it's on my Smith Machine. BTW I train at home so I can't ask for a spot all the time.
I do heavy close grip bench for my tris and heavy upright rows for my delts and traps all on the smith. I can't do flat cuz for some reason it pinches my nerves from shoulder to elbow and fucks up my neck.
