I'm getting the Sonar...i'll put up a screen shot...looks like there will be tons of reading to get the info to make this work for me.

I have Sonar Cakewalk as well, you can put a very large number of tracks together, nice samples also for drum construction as well as other instruments. I also input using my guitar - you could use a midi device. Enjoy.

The first thing i need to do is learn how to edit lyrics from mp3s, take out or remove whateva words but keep the background music the same--like how radio edits their songs. you know how right!

bro - to do that you actually need the tracks. An MP3 is already processed (integrated). Look for backing tracks online, that is your ticket.

nite bro

shit, is there no way to even make the word shit say 'ish'

You can edit out the word by: finding apart of the track where there are no words, at the start or end... Cut the right piece so you can paste it over the lyrics you want to edit out.

A little bit harder than it sounds but is a pretty standard practice.

how long did it take for you to get the hang of it all, felt comfortable doing everything?

I don't know how to use that program...

Look bro, if you want to take this up as a career, then do the best thing and hire a professional to TEACH you how to work this thing. You can pay an engineer a few dollars to sit with you... Or just go take some classes and pay money to learn it. I googled this: http://www.cakewalktraining.com/

Or if this is just for a side project and you wont need these skills later, pay somebody to do it for you and save the aggravation. If you want to double your dollar, get familiar with the program before you sit with the engineer for your work session, maybe you can pick up some tricks while he does your work in professional quality.

I've been DJ'ing/Producing for over 10 years. I use Acid 5.0 and Sonic Foundry. Both are easy enough for a novice to learn.

I'll check those two out. This Sonar prog is like trying to sit in the cawkpit of an F-16 and try to fly the thing. I did spend only about 5 min. with it today so maybe I'll figga it out if I actually read the handbook.

Btw BRR, yes I am doing kids birthday parties/ba mitvahs, etc. 12 and under full time. I have two 18" subs and a turntable and some tweets. I start tomorrow. Weekdays are slow.
