I was talking to the head guy at my office today. The guy makes over 3 million a year. Before he became a district branch manager at our investment office he worked as a hotel manager.
I was asking him how he got started and he told me his story while at the hotel a guy came up to him and offered him a job at his place. 20 years later instead of making 80,000 which he wouldve had he is making over 3 mil a year. He then says to me

"things have a way of working out"

Do you believe this to be true?

They do have a way of working out and it takes a lot of work, a lot of time, and some of "being in the right place at the right time" but you must never lose focus of what you are trying to accomplish and the best means to accomplish it.

Regional Branch Manager for a brokerage's in NYC. Hes out of the city now but he was at one point making 4 million a year..

It's funny how a guy as powerful as him in such a high position has time to come over and start talking to a lowly intern such as myself. But then again ill talk to anyone. I talk to most people at my office. More than any other people there. I think id do better in PR work than being a broker. I like to talk, I like to move around...I cant see myself locked in a room making phone calls trying to solicite business all day...Just isnt me...

Hell yeah I believe that. I came from the ghettos of Pittsburgh, been homeless a few times, slept on family members floors, slept in my car, suffered 3rd degree burns, and went through cancer, and went through numerous other things. Now I'm building a $300,000 home by the beach and live a comfortable life. I never would of though I would be where I am right now. I never believed my Dad when he said "things will work out", but they do...

I know what you mean, I have been getting a shitload of offers to be a broker/investment advisor. The money can be very good, but I just don't know if I really want to spend every day trying to "sell" everyone I meet. I really hope I can land a position in investment banking. good luck
