...heard this expression at dinner last night:

"The best thing since white sliced bread."

.....I laughed.

how about..................

"the best thing since canned beer"?

sliced white bread........................

reminds me of Sunday Dinner at my grandma's house............

sliced, home made white bread on a serving platter in the middle of the table, next to real butter and homemade fig or strawberry preserves, roasted chicken fresh from her hen house, veggies fresh from the field, cloth napkins, a lace table cloth with a clear plastic covering, cut crystal glasses, a huge pitcher of iced tea with sliced lemmons floating in it...................

a meal at her table was more of an endurance contest that just a meal. she was vaguely offended if you didn't ask for seconds or thirds. the more you ate the more she smiled. if you staggered away from the table, groaning and holding your stomach and fell asleep on the sofa or the living room floor, her job for the day was done.

God, i miss that woman!!!!!!!:bawling:

Toasted sliced white with honey and almond butter is an unbeatable combination.

Where do you get almond butter Corn?

...there is a natural health food store in near here that carries it.

I suppose you could do an online search for health food stores that might carry it.

check out ebay......found some there.

Food City in Tampa carried it when i was down there, also Publix supermarkets.

I love almond butter. This week I'm living on saltine crackers and no-sugar added applesauce.

Saltines...white bread - same kinda thing.....

Yes....quit similar. Perhaps I'll put almond butter on them. ;)

I think today is the first day I'm going to eat normally. I'm going to avoid my pain meds today as I'm sick of throwing up. I'm sitting here wearing a sling full of ice and I'm taking ibuprofen. I want a steak.

Real women live on rare red meat.

Oh-- and Corn, you've hooked me on pan-searing steaks. I love them that way!! I cover them in cracked pepper. Sometimes I toss a shot of brandy onto them when they're almost done and throw a little cream into the pan. Nothing beats steak with brady/cream. ;)

Good deal.....Ill grind peppercorns and beat them into the steak and sear on that side over high heat and then flip on cook slowly....very hot but very spicy.

Occasionally, I make a brown sugar/worchest. sauce and then sear some granny smith apples with some pecans in a sugar glaze and then pan fry them

There is something about a woman who like rare steak.

Or if you're pan searing filets, do the same thing but cook them for ~2 minutes on just one side....it makes the bottom all crusted with pepper. Then throw the whole pan into the oven at 450 for 8-10 minutes.

Thorw a mix of butter, lemon juice, and bleu cheese on top....heaven.
