Whey Protein - When to Take it ?

Do you get the best absorption when you take Whey Protein with a meal?

Or is it better/ok to take it in between major meals for supplemental protein intake?
 
If I where you I would try and get protein from solid food in your meal, and use the Whey to supplement in-between times.

BTW, pure Whey is absorbed very quickly, so is in and out of your system in a short period of time. This limits its value for use during the day (but very good post workout). A better choice would be a casein mix, which although rated with a lower BV, gives a more sustained release of amino acids to the body, which is more effective to prevent catabolism.
 
how long should one wait to eat a meal after having a protein shake? I like to eat dinner right after lifting, so i'm wondering if it would be okay to drink protein right before dinner. Would it be better to instead drink it before lifting? Thanks
 
Most protein shakes only have 20-30grams of protein. I would bet most of us on here need at least 200grams a day. So take a shake whenever,can't go wrong. It will only be in your system for 90 min anyway!!
 
and also right b4 bed w/an oil of your choice (fish, flax, etc)........it would make sense that the fats would slow the absorption of the whey so you stay positive whilst sleeping.........atleast, that's what i do.
 
I drink my pure Whey shake right after the workout. But I mix it with an MRP. The Mrp's have 40 grams Whey PT and the PT shake also has 45 grams whey PT. When i am between meals or if something has come up that I can not eat the amount of PT that I would Like, I supplement with Pro Blend 55 from HDT. It has 55 grams PT and is a slow release. This works well for me.
