Where is your god?

You are breathing aren't you?

God requires faith. If you have no faith, then you have no reason to believe in God. That's okay because I know he thinks your real, an asshole, but real.

You are not above insults.

About this being a communist board, I dont think its a communist board, but it can be whatever the moderators want it to be. In America we have free speech. We also have freedom to assemble, which states that we can assemble and say whatever we want.

We can have private organizations where we can set our own rules. See, you want a one world government where you set the rules for all people. You are an elitest who attempts to shrug off all insults as mere floundering of uninitiated minds but in reality you can't accept criticism because you believe that you are above everyone else. What you dont realize is that you can never be above a free man.

So he doesnt sit down and find Shakespearean insults to throw at you, but his criticism of you, being an asshole, as an asshole is quite valid because you are simply trying to start trouble. People who just want to start trouble are assholes, thus, you are being called an asshole because it adequately describes your role. I think that asshole is very descriptive, and when used in the right light, is quite convincing, so WODIN, you have correctly labeled our friend here. Thank you for putting it so eloquently and precisely, never have I read such a concise description of a person's character and I implore you to write more about our friend here, as I believe that every one of your insults will be even more valid than the last.

LOL!!! I like that you have some cool topics to offer. :D

You and I are on totally diffent ends of alot of these issues but that's cool because you seem passionate and I respect that.

Ppl like you are a joke. Scientific evidence is only gonna take you so far. Ppl like you are smart, intelligent, but caught up by your own rules, and quite often already have your mind made up. You could just as easily take the stance "Disprove my God - where is your evidence" and it would be just as meaningful as your stance. Give us a break, you are looking to insult ppl's opinions rather than find truth. I wish you peace. Later.

Today my God is in the bathroom....Must have had some rancid shit for dinner last night, cuz ive been worshipping the porcelain god since the wee hours of the night.

Where? Hard to be in only one place when one is omnipotent.

It's a faith thing. You'll have no proof until you're dead. To insult someone for believing in God/a god with "there's no proof" as your only "proof," then you are just as foolish as he is for believing in God/a god because there is no proof that there is no proof. =)

Ok, I'm agnostic at this time,.... but congradulations OneDumbOrder... you just earned yourself a spot on my ignore list:)

Don't bother replying to me, cause I won't see it;)

OneWorldOrder,

I appreciate your, albeit disgusting, attempt to spur a discussion about religion. I've read many of them on this board, and I genuinely enjoy them...however, they do seem a lot better when the initiator is a lot less antagonistic.

I've worked for NASA, my current job involves space, and I've read Hawkins, Greene, et al. and all of this has led me to one conclusion...that science and religion are not mutually exclusive. Both are searches for the truth. Although religion has a horrible track record in that regard, we must consider that religion is a human interpretation of something nearly unexplainable...much like string theory. The problems arise because humans, through their many flaws, ruin what once was pure. Power and riches have a tendency to do just that...as was demonstrated with the tragedies of Gallileo and Bruno. However, religion has a much harder time, because unlike science, we cannot directly observe what we wish to know. That is why religion is purely based on faith. As Jesus said, "bless those who do not see yet believe."

I believe in God, because I've noticed many "universal truths" in my short life. As you yourself have indirectly mentioned, there are many similiarities in the teachings of Buddhism, Hinduism, Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. I believe these "univeral truths" are a result of a common spirit and not a result of speciation as some theories testify. As one brilliant man once told me in the jungles of Colombia, "religions are like a mountain. Each of the religions is a different path up the mountain, yet they all achieve to reach the same peak." I believe science is also one of those paths. Hopefully the fog will soon clear and people will be able to see the other paths from their vantage point.

I'll play along...

So let's say that we develop the Universal Theory that ties everything together...fom the Big Bang down to 10 or 22 dimensional strings, and that Hawkins description of imaginary time holds true so that the universe is constantly cycling with no beginning and end...then what do we fall on as to how all this was set up? Do we simply argue that it has no beginning and no end, so that the arguement is moot? I don't think people would be willing to accept that. However, how would we find answers given that other iterations of our universe have already collapsed and are unviewable? How do we see how things change over the constant recycling of our universe? All we can see is the current incarnation of our universe. If you're not following me, my point is that there are things we cannot observe, that are as real as what is in front of our face. However, because we cannot "see" them, they cannot be fully described. When (not if) we develop this Univeral Theory, even it will have phenomenon it can't explain...I believe those holes in the theory are best bridged by a belief in God.

Flame on if you will...you're entitled.

ive always wondered why people have "faith". i mean if you have faith in what other people have written and said what if they said that you should worship pig turds?

LOL. My sentiments exactly.

Why serve in heaven when you can rule in hell? (That was a joke..lol)

Dude, there are a lot of "touchy" subjects that get thrown around on this board. Just chill-out. It's all good. Just people throwing their ideas around each other.

I don't believe in hell but even if it is real, hell doesn't scare me. I've seen worse, like try standing in line at the buffet at the Rio in Las Vegas! ;)

ENOUGH!!!

I understand this is a chat and conversation board......but come on!!! Up on the top left of your screen it say's "ELITE FITNESS".. I will agree we do get off on some random subjects, but I don't think religion should be one of them. Let's talk about things that won't piss people off by just reading the subject..like why after two clen I'm running around the office like a crack feind looking for his next hit.........YIPPIE.....I'm cracked out of my gourd!!!!!!!!

Why don't we start banning all the gay posts from here as well?

C'mon, you're talking censorship, if we do you that favor then what about all the other dorks out there who get offended by other posts? When do we stop catering to peoples feelings?

Ya gotta point there. Point well taken. :)

Well, captainawesome, what you did was express "faith" in the belief that science will someday explain all. But what donkeypunch has kind of shown is that science may lead you to where religion has already been.;)

Imaginary time? Hmmmm.....so maybe immortality is like stepping off the real time axis and onto only the imaginary one, thus one is no longer affected by the passage of real time? If so, does this make one no longer affected by physical laws either? Could this explain how "miracles" happened?

I don't believe in god either. Guess I'm an asshole also... :( :bawling:

You know, it is funny that when someone asks a very pointed question and not a politically correct one at that such as Where is God? How amazingly incensed all the believers in God become. They do not even follow the teachings of their religions. Imagine the Jesus of the bible when he was asked where his God was while he was hanging from the cross after being nailed to it. Did he snap back and say you will be in hell or your a dick head or don't speak about that cause your a fool? Nope, when one of the criminals hanging out next to him asked him to forgive him he told him that today you will be in paradise with me. The other who did not repent was never once insulted or looked down upon by Jesus.

My point to the paraphrase above is that it seems that most of the religious people here are not all that religious and not as faithful as they would have us believe. Just read the posts.

As for God, my personal view and belief is that he/she does not exist. At one time I believed in God and had all the "faith" in the world. Then in February of 1991 he died for me. I came to realize through it all that a belief in God is nothing more than a security blanket to comfort us becuase we cannot explain the one thing that is inevitable for us all.

What happens when we die? We don't seem to be able to believe that we just cease to exist. I for one believe we don't, but that is not the point of this thread.

Science is always touted by the faithful as being wrong or not wholly complete except when it suits them to prove one of their beliefs, then science is all knowing and seeing. Take carbon dating for example. Most of the faithful would tell you that it is indisputably invalid for one reason or another. Yet, when the shroud of Turin was discovered, they quickly turned to carbon dating. Guess what, it returned the result that the shroud was at least as old as required to have possibly been Jesus's death shroud. And they took that and said see, Christ and God are real.

You know, no one has ever really disputed that Christ did exist. For some of us we just believe he was another man, no more no less and died for his belief in his "God"

There are many possible stories and scenario's that could easily explain the writings of the bible. Again, another topic.

Watch the movie Contact with Jodi Foster. While Carl Saagan may have been an ass, he quite equisitely covers the subject of faith. And in the end, without knowing about the proof of her journey, she was forced to believe that it did happen. And while she could not bring herself to say she believed it happened because of her "faith" in her convictions, she knew in her heart that is why she believed it happened.

Faith whether in science or in dieties, is just that. It is the strength of your convictions in your beliefs. And if they can be supported by equations and science great. If not, it is no less valid a belief.

So, while there is no God for me and never will be, I still have faith in the human race and its ability to evolve into something greater.

I guess you are a moron too then for believing in science. Not everything in science was proven except by faith. And it took a long time for the science to catch up to the "physicists faith"

Read the book "Darwins Black Box" The biochemical challange to evolution. If you are not big on reading then go to Amazon and buy "Unlocking the Mystery of Life." There is no way any logical person could be an Athiest or agnostic after knowing this. I'm not saying that you'll become a balls to the walls christian, muslum, or buddest, but you will believe in a creator.
