Poles are used by the meida to say whatever they want. Easy to play with numbers. Great way to 'build up a race' (ie: ratings) til the last day.

The polls are done during the day .
Most of the time it is old people that are home and pick up the phone .
Here is what a typical call sounds like .

Operator - Hello would you take part in our survey
Old lady - why sure young fella, my husband died and my kids are all out of state glad you called me today I really need to talk to someone.
Operator - How do you feel about Social security benefits being cut and your medicare being slashed in half .
Old lady - What I don't want that to happen
Operator - Well mam that is what Mccain is trying to do as well as raise your taxes
Old lady - OMG that is insane I have had enough of that Mccain guy
Operator - So you will vote for Obama
Old lady - Well sir you know he is a negro , I cant vote for a negro. At one time my Daddy owned negros
Operator - Well Mam Obama wants to lower your taxes , raise your social security check and increase medicade and benifits
Old lady - Well then looks like that negro has my vote.
Operator - Well he is half black and half french
Old lady - Why didn't you just tell me he wasn't black and i would have voted for him all along , he is a nice young fellow
