when you have structurally high lats

I need some tips how to develop high lats, I did barbell rows for while but I didn't see any progress. Some guy at the gym told me I have high lat and after researching online it looks like if your muscles latissimus dorsi attaches up high on your skeleton it wont sweep impressively... Are there any tips to help me or is my back doomed for imperfection? All replies will be highly appreciated.
 
If you have high lats, you need to work on developing your lower lats. A lot of good bodybuilders have that problem so don't write yourself off just yet. Denis Wolf is the first name that comes to my mind.

Focus on exercises that hit the lower lats like narrow grip T-bar rows and narrow grip (palms facing together) seated lower pulley cable rows.

Focus on underhand movements. Instead of doing regular barbell rows, do underhand grip rows (an EZ-bar takes a lot of stress off the wrists). Instead of doing regular lat pull downs, focus on underhand grip lat pull downs.

Do more emphasis on the lower lat part and you will fix your 'imperfections'

To the extent it have a particular shape, but it doesnt mean you cant change it in a certain way
 
Luckily, the human body is very versatile, and there can be a solution to almost anything. As @muskate has suggested you to do, work on the lower lats, and this will get evened out just fine. Genetics suck sometimes, but this is no reason to give up, and not compensate for those things in a different manner.
