When you guys say DEXTROSE......???

dextrose

Dextose is another name for glucose. White table sugar is sucrose which is actually a disaccharide (two sugars bound together) composed of glucose and frustose.

What i cant understand is why i cant find dextrose anywhere near where i live! All the health stores have fructose....
I always have to buy the stuff online and end up paying almost twice as much becuase of the shipping......

Yea i hear ya about paying double once u add in shipping, but if u have any winery's or any place that makes wine they should have dextrose on hand there and it should only be like a dollar a pound...

so white sugar has some dextrose in it right????

hey, did you guys know cell tech has "pharmaceutical grade dextrose" in it? lol. i was comparing it with Phospagen HP for a substitute for the carb part of the surge i am waiting on.....throwing it in with a few scoops of whey, pretty much same thing as a biotest surge drink. but anyway....that is the only diff i found in the two carb wise other than amount of carbs. :D :D i was laughing my ass off......pharmaceutical grade sugar for christ sakes, what the hell diff can that make????? lol.

sucrose

The glucose and fructose in sucrose are chemically bound to each other resulting in the sugar we know as table sugar. It has different properties than either fructose or glucose.

So basically it taste just like straight out sugar then right? What the hell would you drink it with? That would be one hell of a sweet drink. I have used Carbo Force for my post workout-post insulin drink. It has 110g Carb, but you get tired of the same shit everyday.

isnt carbo force all dextrose?

Sucrose has a lower glycemic index (83) than dextrose or maltodextrin (both 100); this means it interacts differently with insulin. In a pre/post-workout application (which is what I assume you are using it for), higher GI carbs are preferred. Dextrose is more popular and mixes/tastes better, but either dextrose or maltodextrin will work. Some will argue that dextrose is also a simple carb compared to maltodextrin (and therefore is better), but they both elicit a similar insulin response. Actually, maltodextrin may edge out dextrose in terms of performance by a slim margin.

Good question, I've never read the bottle to see. I'll check it out. I just ordered a 11 lb bucket of Dextrose for $10. I don't want to mix it with my shake, what else could I drink it with?

If this is the same "Carbo force" you guys are talking about.....

AMERICAN BODYBUILDING

Carbo Force - Grape

maybe with some unsweetend kool-aid?

I mix mine with unsweetened grape fruit juice, man that shit tastes terrible!

one cup grapefruit juice
half cup milk
half cup oj
half cup dextrose
100g whey protein

thats my post workout shake!

hey, does anybody know how to measure dextrose? and how much should you use post workout WITHOUT insulin?

The dextrose I work with by volume is about 92%; I don't know if dextrose purities vary, but assuming they don't, just measure the volume on a gram scale and take that figure by .92.

Postworkout should fall about .8 gr carbs/kg + .4 gr protein/kg. 1kg = 2.2 lb.

For example, a 200-lb individual would require about 72 gr carbs + 36 gr protein postworkout.

mine from supplement direct says 1/3 of a cup is 75 on the packaging, but I guess it could vary...

thats wrong, there was a couple threads about supplement direct labeling...I think 1/3c worked out to like 50g carbs...around there.

When I used carbo force I was getting real good results and never had sign of hypo. I've been experimenting with Pepsi and coke 2 cans after 10 iu of Humalog. It's been doing alright, as long as I don't do any strenous activity for the next 2 hours (i'm waitng on my dextrose right now! so don't talk shit ! lol)

I ordered mine from supplement direct also, I need about 100 g of carb so it would be rougly around .44 of a cup, round it up to 1/2 cup but if you guys say it's underdosed then I guess I'll find out.

www.proteinfactory.com I get 50% dextrose and 50% maltodextrin for 2.50 a pound. Maltodextrin is not sweet so the mixture is not overwhelming. I mix it with water alone.(it has a bit of fruit punch flavor added). Drink it for during and post workout.
Dextrose is also known as grape sugar, for obvious reasons. Jelly beans and a few other candies use it as a primary sweetener..
