When to fit in cardio on the 5x5

How have you guys/gals fit in your cardio on the 5x5?

Squatting three times a week is definitely new to me. I don't want cardio to hinder my performance in the gym or with recovery. Any suggestions of how to make this work?

Then don't do any cardio. What is your training goal, or what are you training for? A sport? What 5x5 are you doing (linear, periodized)?

If not for a sport that requires additional practice, and it is just for personal growth, then I would say just do the 5x5 and see how it goes.

I am doing the Intermediate 5x5 for personal growth. However, fat gain and metabolism aside, cardiovascular health is the main reason why I need to do some cardio.

I do it on the non-lifting days.

If you're just getting started squatting thrice per week, wait a while before adding much cardio. For now, maybe do one session on Saturday, then if you want to do more add Tuesday and/or Thursday (obviously, I'm assuming your lifting days are MWF).

It should go without saying, but everything you do takes a little bit away from your recovery, and you'll have to adjust your calories to account for the increased activity. If you don't go absolutely nuts, a few sessions of <30 minutes each week shouldn't hurt and might even help your lifting indirectly through improved conditioning.
