When to do deadlifts?

I have never done deadlifts before, and really want to start doing them. But I am not sure how to incorporate them into my worrkout regime: should I do it on my leg day, or on my back day?
Also, which deadlift is the best for building overall mass?

yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking, with deadlift being such a hard exercise and everything, no way I would be able to do it on the same day with squats.

no..but stiff legged are a hamstring killer - thus on leg day for me.
 
SLDLs and regular deads are two different excercises and should be treated that way. SLs involve more ham work, while regular deads involve more back work.
 
Regular deads on back day for me too. I do stiff leg deads on leg day.

I think the regular deads belong on back day, cause I feel all my back muscles working during the lift (lowerback, lats and traps). The first time I started doing deads on back day, my back was really sore the next day. Thats a good sign.
