Ever been to Lake Perry? Were getting a pontoon this spring and probably spend a lot of time out there. Kinda run down compared to Clinton, but considering im 20 minutes from the boat dock and a lot of days, and even some weekends, you have most of the lake to yourself.....it's nice. Fishing is awful spotty but oh well. I just like floating around and veging out.

I have one rod rigged just for that ocassion when I am fishing...seriously. No matter where I am on the lake a jet ski will find me. I have seen them come all the way across a 60,000 acre lake just to buzz me.

I will say ill be particularly careful this year--lakes seem to be a notorious place for getting injuried.

Those fuckers must be able smell me across the lake and zero in on my location.
I have literally been on the water during a weekday and nobody else was around me for fucking miles and I can see a speck coming across the lake(can't hear him just see him faintly) and he will come right at me and not let off the throttle.
One time, I actually cranked my boat up and took out after them. Like trying to catch a chicken in a pen. Those damn things are fast and I had a 200 Mariner.

That SeeDoo is a monster. I will admit they are fun but I wouldn't buy one. I had a 20' Ranger Bass Boat with a Mariner 200. I think I needed a larger motor but that was before they started putting 250's and 300's on them.
A good friend of mine has a 21' Triton Bass Boat with a Johnson 225 and he can hit 78mph and still have some gas left but that shit gets scary when it starts to chine walk or cavitate and he will back off of it.
When I was younger I would have stretched it out to see if I could get it airborn but not now. Shit takes to long to heal if I accidentally fall out.

Well it is a boat speedometer and not a GPS. He's kind of done some modifications to the engine. We used to fish a lot of tournaments and the largest motor you could have is a 225.
He modified it a bit and had the cylinders bored out but I don't know what it is rated at. He put a larger water pump on it and installed a hydraulic jack plate and a hotfoot. The hydraulic jack plate can be trimmed up once on plane and the motor is trimmed out.
I've been on land when he has tested it and rides on a such a small area of the back pad, it is a wonder the front doesn't backflip.
He will only ride it like that if the lake is flat as glass. Any wake and it starts to walk.
right on, sounds like an easy 60mph to about 65mph. there is a phenomenal difference between 65 and 80 miles an hour as far as hull modifications.HumorMe said:

With my friend, I am talking about dry weight with no passengers or gear, one cranking battery, and tanks only half full. By the time you start adding those things back it really diminishes the performance.
True story, we were fishing a tournament on Lake Murray in Columbia and we drew slot 3 as far as blasting off from the landing. They would call out number 1 and let him get clear and then call out 2, etc. There was about a 15 - 20 second leeway at each launch. They called number 3 and within a length of probably 1 1/2 to 2 miles we were ahead of the first two. That boat will haul ass.
You have to remember this is the South and these rednecks around spend more on their boats than they do on their families. The get fucking serious about their boats and are always trying to fine tune them.

No, no, no, it was a serious question.
A real good friend of mine is a big barefooter and he has a super nice Ski Nautique. He teaches kids through the local YMCA to ski. He has one of those long poles that mounts in the boat and extends out the side of the boat.
He's had both boats but favors the Nautique. I was just wondering since you mentioned MasterCraft in one of your posts.

my friends and i will start hitting the lake here in mid april, my brother in law has a badass boat and we take it out all season. he is just about to buy a huge boat with full sleeping quaters to keep down at the coast. should be a very fun year.

Couldn't agree more. Never made any sense to me to spend time and the money fishing to catch things you could buy at a grocery store quicker and cheaper. You can't wakeboard in a grocery store.
Btw we start boarding in mid april in a river. Lake travis we hit after may.
