It's better than wheat because what is sold as wheat or whole wheat bread is often little more than unbleached white bread. They taste pretty much the same to me though.
The kind of Whole wheat bread I buy has 3g of fiber per slice. That's equivalent to the amount you get in your oatmeal. That's a significant amount of fiber i think.
Please... Fiber is what slows down the digestion of your food. That's one of the main reasons Oatmeal is slow digesting. Now if you eat 2 slices of whole wheat bread, like a chicken sandwhich, that contains double the amount of fiber, and that will be very slow digested food. Don't tell me bread is bad, if it is then oatmeal is worse.
