Wheat bread

Is there a difference between a bread with wheat flour and one with wheat bran and wheat gluten?

One of them has 11g a slice and the other has 14g.

Only whole wheat bread (organic if possible) is OK

I say go with the one with the higher fiber content. Some people are allergic to wheat gluten, but i have never met any :)

Who are you, the bread police? There are many decent types of bread, besides wheat........try rye, flax, wholemeal, etc.......orgain is a solid choice...stay away from bleached/unbleached processed foods........

JK's right. Just stick with a bread that has a shorter ingredient list. Just be careful to stay away from the hi fructose corn syrups, and the hydrogenated stuff.

You can usually find good stuff at a "whole foods" type store.

If you can find it (WalMart has it) get a loaf of Arnold Brand "Carb Counting" Whole Wheat Bread. It's got 9g's of carbs per slice, 3 of which are fiber. Fructose is on the list of ingredients, but it's about halfway down. Ingredients in this order are:
Whole Wheat Flour, Water, Wheat Gluten, Oat Fiber, Wheat Protein Isolate, Soybean Oil, Yeast, Polydextrose, Fructose, Salt, Molasses, Preservatives (Calcium Propionate, Sorbic Acid), Mono-And Diglycerides, Grain Vinegar, Monocalcium Phosphate, Wheat Bran, Sodium Stearoyl, Lactylate, Soy Lecithin

All of this part (Polydextrose, Fructose, Salt, Molasses, Preservatives) is shit for you

ive had that before. it's decent, but whole wheat bread tastes better and doesn't have some of that stuff in it

Organic flourless sprouted 7-grain bread

cals 80
fat .5
carbs 16
prot 4

organic sprouted wheat, organic sprouted rye, organic sprouted corn, organic sprouted barley, organic sprouted millet, organic sprouted oats, organic sprouted brown rice, honey, fresh yeast.

Can be found at Trader Joes

Ok, which of these two should I get:

#1
11 g of carbs per slice
2 g fiber

#2
14 g of carbs per slice
2 g fiber
2 g sugars

I don't get it, honestly. There's a question on bread, or milk at that matter, on these boards everyday. Both are crap in terms of nutritional values compared to other foods you can stuff your mouths with. But instead of looking for alternative foods, you look for healthy types of bread and milk (low carb milk - bleh, atkins bread - WTF) which are NO longer bread or milk, for they lack the qualities of both and taste like asswipes :o
Need carbs - grab some fk'n oats, beans, lentils!
Need casein - grab some cheese!

Bread is not as good as lentils, beans or oeatmeal (as a low GI, high fiber source of carbs)

But:

bread is more convenient to eat (no need to cook or heat, no spoonor knife needed)

It tastes great

Thats my main point for using this stuff every once in a while. @ 60 cals a slice, using a piece of it to make an ANPB sandwhich isn't really that detrimental to my success....at least not yet.

geezus...just eat your bread and milk.....just make sure it's of solid nutitional value........when bulking, eat it whenever.....when I cam in contest prep, those two are the first to go........and the protein bars...lol

if you are eating bread, you most likely should be focusing on carb quality as opposed to carb content... as you are clearly not going keto.

I'm bulking, but you're saying get option #1 (w/o sugars) anyway?

LOL...you kidding........? organic, whole grain bread is much better nutrionally than pita...cmon bro........

i concur... a whole wheat pita will have 1/2 as many carbs in it as 2 slices of bread... and I have found some which had 4 or 5 ingredients (ie... ww flour, water, salt...)
