i know lots of guys are stronger with a narrower grip than max allowed. i've been using index finger and i may not be as strong there..

i dont remember where, but i read somewhere that i should use index finger on rings, because it creates a shorter distance to press. i'm not sure if this matters much or not in the long run..

I used to bench with my middle finger on the rings but have found that I am now stronger with pinky on the rings.

I use middle on the rings. It would be optimal to use index on the rings, because thats the maximum width and you would have the shorter stroke; however, this isn't feasable for everyone. You have to have adequate shoulder and lat strength to use the index on rings. This is why you see a lot of people with a slightly narrower grip.

Index on rings. I never went this wide until I got in a shirt. Now it just seems normal to grip there.

pinky on the ring for me, elbows tucked way in

are these rings universal... I do with my pinky on them and sometimes not even that and im very tall.

could they be different in europe or something?

index in rings... sheeesh

living in germany the bars look pretty much the same don't think they screwed up the bar wth the metric system yet

I am middle finger on ring with raw bench and shirt bench.

And no lots of rings are spaced differently. Cheap bars especially. Last meet i did in fact was off. They were an inch in. We keep a tape measure in the bag at meets just incase fo this. It makes that much a difference to me. 32 inches is the normal. The rings i have found to be off required me to use index on ring and that equeled middle on normal rings. Be careful cause lots of them are different. More then you think.
