LOL @ "tell me"

I'm an atheist, but that's more of a reaction to organized religion, especially Abrahamic.

I also prefer to think of things from an existentialist point of view, so as a side-effect I am a materialist. I don't have many beliefs regarding whether or not there are other contexts I don't yet know about, but that doesn't stop me from openly criticising the assumption of and desire for an incoherent explanation for everything.

atheist here. and you can keep "god" or any other reference to religion in the pledge or any where else you like.

I couldn't care less what other people choose to beleive.

atheist here

you should have put "agnostic" as an option...that would probably categorize more non-believers than the "convinced atheist" category.

I believe in a creator who takes in some action when cruising through this neck of the woods.

Sort of.

OK....not really. I believe in a lot of possibilites.

Sign me up as Militant Agnostic: "No, I don't know, but I am damned sure you don't either."

I believe in a higher power, but I also believe that man is too arrogant to see it without trying to put their own spin on it. Hence the numerous religions and religious strife around the world.

i was raised christan.... but over the years mans ingnorance has shown me that there isnt 1 right way....all of the religions have good points...i saw a show on discovery on how our brain is "wired" to belive in god...or a force...i think that we all know right from wrong and can recognize it when we see it...its just hard sometimes to make the hard right over the easy wrong ...

"other"

Was raised protestant - learned a bit about many religions and my beliefs are pretty simple:

Whatever energy ye send out will be returned to ye threefold.

And do ye no harm.

Works for me. ;)

A lot of people believe that.

For 11 years, I have been giving most customers more than I was obligated too. Yet I usually get ripped off when I purchase a service. It is extremely rare (read never) that someone gives me more than they had too.

Tell peole that you have a business..........they turn into sharks quite often. Funny thing really. Or maybe it is society that has changed?

Catholic. I believe in a loving and merciful God, and see His handiwork all around me.

I don't believe that all inanimate matter in the universe just popped into existence in some unknown manner, and find the proposition that it did to be silly. Therefore it makes me laugh when atheists claim some higher level of intellectual reasoning when defending their "faith."

I believe the existence of a Creator can be reasoned. i believe that there is no other "reasonable" purpose for creation aside from it being an act of selfless love by the Creator. All other "explanations" strike me as attributing human motives for the act, and have there basis in assuming some deficiency in a Creator that his very existence would deny.

I believe that God is present in most all religions, and certainly no one religion can lay claim to a full understanding. however as a Catholic I believe He is most fully present in the Church, and so I choose to follow that path.

There is far more evidence of life evolving through various channels than there is of something waving a magic wand but since I sure as hell don't know either way, I'll tag along on Digger's 'militant agnostic' bandwagon. ;)

that leaves what, buddhism or something?
I no longer like to tell people that I am an "atheist" because it is often interpreted as the denial of any higher purpose, as if "God" is the dominion of the unknown. I don't take issue with the idea that something may emerge in the future that I may view as a higher purpose. The "truth" is always an interpretation, as it is in the context of the mind.

In East Asia, religion in society isn't so "all or nothing", so I suppose I wouldn't need to make that distinction in relation to Buddhism.

I believe in the God meme-plex, which for years was the dominating meme-filter of western society, and is now superseded by the science, money and state memes together; but still hangin tough it seems.

You can choose to believe whatever you want... If believing is a choice, then it is not founded.

It's arrogant to presume on things you do not know.

Do you really think that is true? I don't know that I do. But as for me, I'm Christian and I side more with protestantism than catholisim but don't try to say they are on the wrong path. I also believe that most religions have peices of truth in them, but Christianity has the most truth or more accuratley is truth.
