with the weights outward, should you fully extend your arms out and bring the weights in, arms still fully extended

or

with the weights outward, bend your arms at a slight angle, about 45-60 degrees and bring the weights in, arms still bent at same angle

Instructions
Preparation

Grasp two dumbbells. Lie supine on bench. Support dumbbells above the chest with the arms fixed in a slightly bent position. Internally rotate shoulders so elbows to the sides.
Execution

Lower dumbbells to sides until chest muscles are stretched with elbows fixed. Bring dumbbells together in a hugging motion until dumbbells are nearly together. Repeat.

I keep my forearms parallel to each other, I feel it isolates the chest more.

keeping your aems straight puts to much pressure on your shoulders...hold dumbbells together at arms' length above your shoulders, palms facing each other. Keep arms as straight as possible with a slight bend in the elbow. Lower dumbbells out to each side of your chest in a semicircular motion. Return to chest using the same path. Keep head and back firmly on the bench and your feet on the floor.

exactly right.

try supinating your arms so your pinkies face each other as you bring them together....works em even better

I can't believe some people still think flyes are useless.

One of the functions of the pectorials is to bring your arms across your body. You don't accomplish this in pressing movements.

An ideal chest routine would consists of 2/3 pressing movements, 1/3 flye movements.
