Been on 30/50/20 for about 6 months now, trying to put on weight.
When I started I had full abs at 5'11" 170ish lbs.

Prolly 15% you look soft, just saying

Here's something to make up for the disgusting man pic.

too glossy
I prefer amatuer looking real pics
like the babes I've been with 98% of the time it's in bed allmessed up stinky
in the morning
whatever
I've fucked a gal all made up like twice
think about that

Well I see no reason to keep your carbs at 50% on a constant basis, thats just asking for the spare tire effect. So yea I would certainly try to change that up.

yeah it kinda fucks with me too
all this talk about consuming carbs and excrement

I'd agree with 14-15%...kill the carbs bro. What are your goals? If it's to cut up then run a keto diet. Toss in some test and you're good to go by spring break to pound all the man ass you can handle.

Was trying to put on some mass over the winter but as you can see huge fail!
I'm normally rocking abs so this much bf is really making me uncomfortable.
Getting ready to do just as you suggested, pct is already lined up and test should be here this week.
15% is what I was thinking too,was just looking for a cosign on that.
Obviously need to change the macros as well. what would you guys suggest for a cut on cycle?
50/30/20
60/20/20????

Here is a reference pic from before i started trying to "bulk"
So you know I'm not full of shit!

Yea, low BF but not much mass. I'm going to have to blame your training more than your diet. If you were hitting it like you're supposed to the extra carbs wouldn't have been so abdominally focused. What does your training look like? Any cardio? And when you say carbs you're referring to only complex carbs I hope.

This is a spot on response

Yes only complex, but there was alot of cheating with the holidays.
Just finished first ever 5x5 so i wanna strip the bf but keep the muscle even if it is only a lil bit.

holy crap

I'm so hard from this

Doesn't look like you put on any muscle. Your bulk went all wrong. I'd say body fat is more like 18%. Are you flexing in the after pics? Go get measured.

Definitely drop most of your carbs. Increase protein up to 2 grams per pound of body weight. Eat your protein first, always. Then eat veggies (always include some veggies). Lastly, eat your complex carbs...if you still feel hungry. Basically cut the carbs to almost nil, then have a refeed every 5 days or so. How many times a day are you eating? What are you eating? Were you eating a lot of McDonald's on your bulk? Were you lifting heavy on that 5x5? Go buy yourself a good green tea extract (it's cheap), and take it 2-3 times a day. Do your cardio first thing in the morning on an empty stomach.

Or just get on steroids and half ass everything else and you will probably see some decent results until you get off them again.

indeed I absorbed much negative commentary from elite
for my drunkeness
and that is true but those 'elite' ladies were trash
I'm not going to drink myself into oblivion around a girl I like

AGREED! Shit went all wrong!
Carbs too high.
Protein too low!
Listening to the wrong people!
Cheating like a bitch over the holidays!
Now I'm in a world of shit!
I don't think 5x5 is for me I need to feel like I'm doing something everyday!
I like myself better skinny and tight!
I'm 34.
Everywhere I looked said to gain weight high carbs. Guess they didn't say what kind of weight it was.
WTF Time to start over!

How old are you? Health problems? I know that my focus changed once I was told about my cholesterol levels and my Dad's heart attack.

5x5 works just fine. If you do want to put on size, you can't be working out every damn day. You'll stay skinny that way. But if you like that then cool. I prefer the high protein, moderate to high fat, lower carb with a regular refeed day method. But I also don't mind putting on a little fat as long as I'm putting on muscle with it. Helps me lift them heavy ass weights too.

I'm on my phone right now so I can't really check you out.
But I'm assuming you're a decent sized dude. So how many days a week do you work out? I know working out too much plus the running is f****** me up. I try to compensate by eating the high carbs but as you can see it's just not working out. You're like the third dude to suggest that diet to me. So I'm going to get on the computer and rework my shit asap.
Stevesmi Suggested the workout in his sig and I think I'm going to give that a try.
Of course I would like to be bigger.
But I'm not aiming for competition or freak status at 34 years old. I found this lifestyle later in life so I'm still learning.
I do love the shit though.
Everyone's help is much appreciated!!!
Thanks guys!!!

I've been working out 3 days a week for the last 4+ years and I like it. I've done 4, 5, 6 days a week too. The less time I spent in the gym, the bigger I got.

These days, with a couple kids running me around, I'm not looking to get huge either. I don't think I could keep up. I'm staying around 220 for now, pretty lean. I'm not crazy tight on my diet either. I eat pizza now and then, I have a bit of a sweet tooth for cookies and ice cream too. :D I'll occasionally swing through McDonald's for a snack if I'm out and hungry and in a hurry.

I wouldn't mind getting back up to 240 and seeing if I could get up to 260-280 without going over 15-17%, but I just don't think I could with all I have going on and kids, wife, obligations, etc. (I'm 39, btw). It's fine though. There are many more important things in life than being 280 @ 10%. :)

Appreciate your time bro.
I have some reorganizing to do :)

I think you're holding a bit of water and your BF isn't as high as some of the estimates. Get yourself some food poisioning and post pics after a couple of days.

Also, pics of your wife's butthole would get this thread going.

If you want an honest opinion, I agree w CEO... More like 18-20%

You say you were bulking. Did you get stronger? For the amount of adipose tissue gained I don't see the increase in LBM I would have hoped for... What are you doing for lifts?

If he did the 5x5, he should have been doing bench, squat, dead, BB Rows, OHP, and probably some accessory work for bi's and tri's.

core lifts I figured that out in year one

CEO... I know the 5x5. I wanted to make sure he knows the 5x5.

What is your lifting experience, bromie?

meh i think you guys are way off on the bf estimates, i'd guess 10-12% the dude doesn't have a lotta meat.
props for posting up maing, takes some balls...before i started eating properly i had a similiar physique...skinny, partially jacked, and slightly fatty...then i said fuck the dieting BS and just ate.
not like shit but not worried about it either...forced myself to...and i got into powerlifting 5*5 style.
i put on 30 lbs over a few yrs all natty...tipped the scales at 200ish with 10-12 % via calipers...scaled it back with some cardio and was pretty lean and mean at 180 benching 3 plates and squatting/dl'ing 4 for reps (knee wraps and belt for the squats).
now with low doses of test i've crawled back up to 200 at 7-10% bf and couldn't be happier...so i'd suggest to just eat wtf ever till you are fat...coupled with some heavy 5*5 dl/sq/bp and overhead presses (standing with a barbell and strict form).
then once you are fatty and 200 or so lbs, scale it back and throw in 250mgs of test e/c and you will be balling it

moderating c&c

I aint moderating shit

Just trying to figure out how best to help the guy

He can do the 5x5 repeatedly with no results if he doesn't know when to fail

Bino, that doesn't make any sense about the bf... With lower LBM a higher percentage of the body mass will be fat even if the net fat volume doesn't change. Trust me, I obsess about this incessantly ;p

And I'm sorry, I forgot where I was, my CnC response woulda been something far more insulting

No... I wad asking the brave young homey

He tried a "bulking" cycle, Bino... Fast forward these results and where will he be?

My suspicion is he's gotta go heavier on the lifts (or have someone double check his form). I don't know what, if anything, he's doing for cardio but I would probably cut it out entirely to start and just keep the rest time short between sets. Would give frequent recovery/growth days.

I'd tighten up the diet, high protein, 24h carb cycle at first. The days of "eat anything and gain as much as you want I'm the offseason" died with Jams. The reason it (sometimes) works for pros and seasoned vets is they have the LBM to drive the metabolism to minimize the fat gains. It doesn't extrapolate to the average dude.

Thoughts?

no wait you have your own "all that" to figure out
bama = 9
game over

I did get a lil stronger and i did fill out in my ass, thighs and back. The problem started when i noticed my bf getting to high i cut cals. A week later i startef failing lifts for the first time in my 5x5.
This might be a noob thing to say but it seems i can either be fat and get stronger or stay trim and weak.
I agree with your estimate i think 15% was optimistic.

Basically my long term goal.
3 plates on bench n squat.
I would be very happy to have a similar story in a few yrs :)

Perfect!

In my defense im eating almost 300 grams ed of carbs (sweet potatos, brown rice, quinoa, oats) so I've gotta be holding a good bit of water.
I should lose that in the first week of macro change.
Want to try this no carb refeed thing everyone keeps suggesting.

Except you'd be holding this water in your muscles... So that's what will "deflate" w carb depletion

If we cared about your body weight (like if you were trying to make a weight class for wrestling) this might help, but you asked about your body fat % which is a much better barometer for physique.

And no need to defend. Weze is (mostly) all friends here ;p
