Whats more important to you? health or being lean/big

I want to be big, stong, and healthy. My eventual goal is 280 with 10% bodyfat. Right now I am 260 with about 12%. I am 6'2" and feel great right now. I have been as heavy as 295 but that was a little too much for my back and knees. I was pretty fat then but enjoyed the strength. That is why I think 280 will give me the good mix of size strength and overall feeling of wellness.

Cheers,
Scotsman

Personaly its a trade off between my health and being happy with my body.
I'm 6ft and currently 14st (nearing the end of first cycle)
Before my cycle i was 12.5st and when i started training 7 years ago i was 10st and at 6ft that is skinny at the moment i want to be about 16st at around 8-10%bf
And yes i will do what it takes to get there if i can look in the mirror and be happy then i can walk in to a bar and be confident.

I do what makes me happy. I try not to jepordize my health but no one is promised a tomorrow.

I got one go round on this Earth...I'm going round as big as I can be.

lots of different views on this, as I expected.....

For me, I plan on having kids some day, so my health is number one. I also don't want my body fat to get to low so I can't have kids---or cause birth defects.

I want to be 90 years old, and still be able to lift and sprint. High goal, I know--but that's my dream.

Power Grandma!! Yeah.

That will be me :D

That's one reason why I don't want to follow a diet that restricts foods like carbs---your body really does need them. My sister is going to school to become a nutritionist, and the stuff she tells me makes me so much more aware of my health.

Nutritionist?????

LOL....get ready for 30 lectures a day regarding your
eating habits+(this I think is the best one) LIFTING
ADVICE.....LMFAO!!!!!

Nutritionists are only really taught the status quo....i.e.
the so-called food pyramid(What a joke!) and other
Pro-AMA(American association regarding nutrition,
food etc.. etc..)

There are VERY FEW that actually research and support
OTHER types of diets for fear of being ostricized by their
respective governing bodies.

It really is ALL ABOUT POLITICS.

As an example, FAT was deemed to be the main culprit in
making the US fatter in the 60's, 70's, so Low-fat/fat-free
was introduced.

THIS IS A MASSIVE INDUSTRY. $billions every yer.

So what now? The US IS STILL GETTING FATTER.
(Highly correlated to the MASSIVE amount of
sugar added to low-fat/fat-free items)

So, what is the AMA doing about it? NOTHING.

Why? Because all the giant food firms have them in their
back pocket.

As I tell overweight people that I try to help, "just
because it doesn't have any fat in it you can't
just eat it without worrying about getting fat"

Its amazing HOW LITTLE people know about nutrition.
And I mean REAL UN-BIASED NUTRITION.

Ok, I could go on, but this is becoming a lecture...LOL

Fonz---I totally agree with what your saying!

who should you take advice from--a ripped bodybulider

or a person who is overweight but a doctor?

I feel both can be right, and both can be wrong. I reseach anything before I say what is "right" and what is "wrong" because at times the line is so thin its crazy.

Oh boy, you just hit the weight-loss conundrum that is
the topic of discussion in a dietetics class I sit in.(No credit,
just for a good laugh).

What is the difference between a doctors weight loss
program and a BB'ers weight loss program?

Simple.

Time and less muscle lost.

The number one enemy of the overweight person is TIME.
Any way you look at it, its TIME.

Through normal dietary manipulation, excercise habits,
even certain drugs(ECA,) its going TO TAKE
A LONG TIME TO LOSE THE FAT.

To be brutally honest, I'm not even sure I could endure 2
STRAIGHT years of dieting.
MOST people will crack and revert back to being overweight.

Doctors DO NOT TAKE into account how long its
going to take, because frankly, I don't think they
really care.

There are certain BB'ing drugs that could accelerate the
weight-loss proccess DRAMATICALLY without causing
any deleterious effects on the overweight persons
health.

However, there are BILLIONS of dollars at stake in
KEEPING AMERICA FAT. Sad, but TRUE.

Overweight people do use a LOT of drugs to control
diabetes, artherosclerosis, High BP problems,
and a host of other cardiovascular disorders.

Damn, I'd better stop know because you
definately hit my pressure point....LOL

Fact is, there is a drug out there that could LITERALLY
and FIGURATIVELY cure obesity in the US.

However, it is ignored...........how strange.
