Seriously, I try to make two assumptions about people no matter how they act:
1. People are essentially good.
2. People truly want to help.

Once I make those assumptions about people, I usually treat them better and the interaction is positive, even when their an asshole when you first meet them and they let things in their life get in the way of the assumptions Ive made about them. Plus it prevents me from letting one asshole put me in a mood where Im not nice to the next person I run into.

Thanks, its the only way to really be happy with dealing with anyone. I meet people all day long and not in the best of situations with health matters and such so they can be antisocialable at times. But I still have to treat them the best way I can and if I make those assumptions about them and keep treating them as if they are essentially good then they usually prove Im right. Just about being patient with people.
I learned that philosophy in a brief time I did sales jobs between college. It has done me so much good in so many difficult situations. Plus you are mindset is that of control and away from reactionary.

Well i am impressed and i will take on your philosophy, when u believe the best/good in people they usually show the good side of them, for it has always been there, they just needed a reason to bring it out

Yeah try it out a few times, you'll be amazed at how different an interaction can go. If you think youre going to have a negative interaction with someone be it history between you two or just simple prejudgement, consciously make those two assumptions when dealing with them. If they starting acting negative, keep them on course by bypassing the negativity or just listen to them as they tell you what bothers them.

Then repeat back what they are saying so that they know that youve heard them. Once you get the negative stuff out of the way, people are free to be good.

Of course some people that may take some time, along time, but thats the exception not the rule.

Then after youve had the interaction try and compare how it might have went had you not assumed the good about the other person. It was eye opening for me as I was shocked how well situations were different than I had anticipated.

it is all about going through like consciously, making conscious decision, and no matter what is going on around you, u need to remain self centered
