hardrock

Go fuck your own face!

Under 10-15K?

Has to be reliable, decent mileage, cheap maintenance, and cheap on insurance. Oh and good in winter so no RWD sports cars.

My shitbox is running on E and I can't afford a big payment right now. I hate to fo foreign, but it's starting to look like my best option.

A little help?

toyota corolla.

shit wont ever die. It will still be running when you want it to die.

I bought a Chevy Cavalier for my daughter and it has been great.

I have good luck with buying used cars from the rental fleet. Those cars have mandated maintenance programs and were generally driven by families on vacation...highway miles.

Unless you buy a jag or vette or something.

The warranty is still valid on my car...so I'm told.

No offense, but I hate those cars. It's like a pop can. I would like one that looks decent too. Considered a Saturn, but interior is too small.

BTW, I am talking used car.

you're considering a saturn over a corolla? I guess we just have different tastes.

If you get a minivan you are pretty much under the radar when it comes to tickets - you will get no respect on the road though.

Um no. Used to like those Astro AWD vans. Don't imagine they get good mileage tho. Not the best looking either, but I like the AWD part.

Didn't say I liked the saturn. I did consider the Corolla also, but reminds me too much of a Prism.

I am thinking about Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Acura, Mazda, Chevy. Would love to stay under $10K and 60K miles, but it's looking like I'm gonna have to bump it up closer to the $13-15K mark.

Like the looks of the Sentra se-r or alot of the new Mazdas. Accords look nice too.

I picked up a 2002 pontiac grand am for 10 900 canadian, great car imo, some people bitch and moan about relieability but my pops has has a grand am gt for a while with no issues, his is a year old then mine, just keep the preventitive maintenance up and it will be fine

Get a Delorian. I heard they are great, no maintenence and readily available.

For that price I'd pick up a used 5 series.

I love my E30 for my daily driver, but you can get a newer / bigger model for that cash.

Something along the lines of

shameless pic plug for my E30

I'd love a BMW or Benz, but I need a inexpensive daily driver, with low miles, that is cheap to maintain and I don't wanna go older than '99 or so. Pretty much crosses them off.

Hondas get awesome consumer reports ratings.

Really want to go cheap, get a low mileage Chrysler Minvan from the late 1990s, fuckers won't die if you do regular maintenance.

Used to have a Subaru 4WD wagon, but they're pricey, you have to go pretty old to get in the $$$ range you're looking in, but they never freaking die, ours was hit/totalled while it was parked, I loved that little car.

I've worked in the automotive industry for the past 24 years ... so heres the scoup

Reliability nowadays is a given .. not like 20 years ago

Service would be the #1 thing i'd look for .. how close is the dealer if your buying new ... Sure maybe one brand is a little less expensive then another but if it means an hours drive one way to the dealer then i'd take that into consideration plus tha labour rates at the dealer ...
Domestic in my neck of the woods is around $79 to $89 per hour where as the imports are in the high 90's and the european stuff over $100.00 an hour .. so repair bills can get nasty ..

Aftermarket parts avalibility for the model your shopping .. meaning can you buy parts from your local jobber to repair or are you stuck shopping only at the dealer ..

Gas VS deisel ? Here where i live deisel fuel is as much if not more the unleaded so buying a VW jetta deisel because fuel prices bother you would have now been a poor choice ...

Cars seem to trace personalities .. you find one that catchs you eye and end up buying on impulse .. happens everyday where i work
