SofaGeorge said:Don't underestimate SARS. I'm working with a group of doctors organizing donations of medical supplies to SARS hospitals in China. The hospitals have a critical shortage of badly needed respiratory equipment, oxygen tanks, etc... It's a bad bad scenario. The doctors I work with come back with stories of kids gasping for air in the hallways of Chinese hospitals because there is no treatment equipment for them.
They knew that SARS would go dormant during the warm months... and public attention would evaporate. The first US SARS benefit concert was put on hold because the doctors knew apathy would set in when the warm months came.
The concern now is: Will SARS be back full swing next winter?

I'm not sure if this part of the story has hit the news yet or not... but the virus has also already split. The Canadian strain is now different from the Chinese strain.
