Modesty and simplicity can say alot more than blantant self-indulgence.

Definition of MODESTY: Lack of pretentiousness, simplicity.........

Arrogance is cheap. Arrogance only shows that your are seeking to be legitimized, told you are worthy.
Consider the American heritage definition of arrogance: Making or disposed to make claims of unwanted importance or consideration out of overbearing pride.

I am proud of my accomplishments, but I don't want to praise them myself, but rather would have others praise them for me.
Why overly present yourself, when If you excel in school, with your body, or with your career---others will take notice and present those accomplishments for you.
Self-promotion is easy, societal promotion is much harder to achieve.

Why drive a flashy cadillac when you can drive a dark mercedes? It's all about the art of simplicity and modesty. How many guys or girls do I know that look great, but never acknowledge it-------because they don't need to-----everyone else does it for them? If you truly look good, YOU WILL NEVER NEED TO ACKNOWLEDGE IT, the ringing of your phone and the looks you receive will do it all for you.....

some bodybuilder referenced something similar - I think even Arnold (which is funny since he talked to much trash) - I don't recall exactly what it was, but in today's terms, it was that if there are two cars sitting at a stoplight, one is a "rice boy" (one of those dipshit honda civics with the wing and the stickers and big muffler and big shiny hubcarps) and the other is a ferrari. the rice boy revs his engine and peels out of the light and the ferrari just drives off normally.
the rice boy (not meant as any sort of derrogartory term beyond "idiot car") is flaunting what he has, which is shit - the ferrari driver doesn't need to flaunt it b/c he knows that if need be, his car would kick the shit out of all that on the road, so he can calmly ignore the rice boy fucker.

In a argument against arrogance, there is something to be said about keeping ones abilities secret. You never really want an opponent to know what you can really do .. if an opponent knows your max strength, you are giving your opponent a goal to surpass.

So there is an advantage in keeping quiet, listening, and learning from those around you.
