What would you get used BMW M5 or a Brand New Lexus IS250 AWD loaded?

Seriously though, I know you have no respect for Japanese cars due to the rice racer image.

But Honda set out to produce the lighest production car ever with the NSX, even went so far as to make the pistons out of Carbon Fiber Impregnated Aluminium.... The 3rd Gen RX-7 was on the drawing boards already and they weren't in a competition per say, but the RX-7 came in at over 200lbs lighter. The weight of that car is what set's it apart from everything else.

I do have respect for them. The Supra was an amazing car, the new NSX will probably blow most everything close in price out of the water, and the new Lexus is supposed to be a 200 mph car that can actually turn. I've been out to the races here at the Miller Motor Sports Park, and the Dinan tuned M3's have smoked everything, the GT3's, tuned Supra's, and RX7's included. I can't believe how well rounded the cars are. The new ones will be better, and the new c63 AMG is supposed to be right up there with it. A Merc that can actually turn?

I am not sure what the tunes consist of... but alot of those sponsered racers - anything you see on a track - they aren't anything like the production cars. They may start with a production body - but i've seen where they litterally tear the entire unibody apart and reweld every seam....

Stock 4 stock... I've never seen an M3 that can compete with a 3rd gen x7 on a road track.... they were just to heavy. Shit loads of power, no doubt...

I think the 300zx tt, tt supras and RX7's are the best cars ever made under 100k.

Compare the value that these cars from the early to mid 90's are holding compared to that of other cars from that time frame.

If you find a 94 Supra tt in good condition for under 30k, then it's a steal.

"Lightest production car ever"? The NSX?

Heck, a Morris Mini or a Lotus Seven were about 1200 pounds. Citroen 2CV wasn't much more. Your RX7 was over twice that. There have been any number of under-one-ton cars, including the Lotus Elise.

Yeah Yeah... real production cars, not anything under 25,000 units a year...

or whatever level seperates those botique type cars from what I'd consider a production run of a vehicle...

Lotus Sevens are bad fucking ass... when they showed up at road race events I was at, I folded shop... they stomped ass...

Real production cars? The original Mini was made in the millions. Other under-one-ton cars would include the Fiat 500/600/850, Fiat 128, Fiat X 1/9, the original VW Rabbit and Scirocco, and most of the other compacts from the '60s. Heck, the VW Beetle was well under a ton. The NSX is 3100 and change. That's not much of an achievement, considering all the expensive aluminum they used.

What year did they make over 25,000 NSXs, by the way???

Eh okay... the fiat / mini ... production. I guess I just don't see them as much and didn't think of them that way. Not sure how racy they are overall - power, handling, braking, etc... but okay they are tiny and light.

I agree that the NSX was a boon... doesn't impress me.

The Bettle was under a ton?

Wow..
