Cancer because I'm selfish and on my dad's side, everyone grows tumors and many have died because of it. Grandparents, uncles, aunts, older cousins, etc. I want to live.
I hope this doesn't sound calloused after buttplug's post, but when we go into the whole "lifestyle" vs. "can't help it" thing, I can't help but to recall this tidbit I kept reading about for a while:
I would say AIDS. because cancer is not one disease, but a name for a cluster of similarly symptomed diseases with a myriad of causes and/or potentials for cure. So you'd have to find a cure for each seperate variety. Tall order.
And it gets to me how so many MILLIONS have HIV and they are going to die of it as their govts are too corrupt or too poor to get the drugs we have access to over here. I'm assuming you're talking worldwide BTW. We're talking people who can't read or write, know nothing of disease or the mechanisms of its transmission, who see it as some kind of random plague and have no way of understanding how to prevent it - education would be a great help there I think. That and donating millions of condoms to be handed out free of charge. They're not expensive to manufacture.
There are 20 millions South Africans infected with HIV. Most can't afford any treatment whatsoever. THey are going to die in slow and painful ways...
Cancer, for purely selfish reasons. My mother recently kicked its ass (for the moment), and my grandmother and great grandmother ended up 70 pound skeletons wasting away in hospital beds from it.
>So you'd have to find a cure for each seperate variety
Nice try. We're talking a single cure for all cancers.
as for Africa. Most of those deaths can be prevented by means that already exist today (education, drugs, treatments, behavious, etc.). Cancer is much more vicious, cuz there's nothing man can do right now to stop the onslaught of cancer deaths worldwide. You can live a perfectly healthy life and still get it and die. Cancer is the #1 killer of man on this planet. Second is old asian women driving hondas.
Not correct , there are many things people can do:
1. cut down on pollutants ,carcinogenic chemicals
2. remove tobacco industry
3. ban the use of Mercury (by controlling its production) for gold extraction.
4. Actively encourage healthy diets.
AIDs is one of those (oh shit I shoulda worn a condom) diseases, you know you get it because you made a poor choice.. Yes yes, I know some people get it from transfusions and/or needle sharing blah blah blah.
