What to take for elbow pain?

My elbows are always giving me trouble  Usually, when I am doing skull crushers for my tris, they click a little on the heavier weight and give me a little discomfort. Every once in a while, I do something to really aggravate them, and they give me a problem for practically any exercise I do. And this is what just happened... and of course I hurt my left elbow the same week I start my first cycle! Its not really hurt, but it does have some clicking...I have been doing my normal workouts this week...but with a little bit lighter weight and some common sense. But, near the end of the workout, I almost feel like my arm is going dead from the elbow down...could this just be an inflamed nerve that tends to get aggravated.
Anyway, what is an OTC supplement I could use to help alleviate/quicken healing of this problem?
Thanks in advance!

Lots of vicoden and morphine. Just kidding, I had the same problem for years and the only thing that helped was gh. When on growth none of my joints hurt. I had knee pain that would sometimes prevent me from squatting and I would have to wrap as light as 135. With the growth no knee pain, no elbow pain to speak of. An expensive cure but a cure.

You may need to see a doc to find out if you have tendonitis. If you do you will have to take it very easy on your arms for a while....tendonitis freaking sucks bad, there really is no "cure" for it other than to rest.

Does the pain stay in your elbows or does hurt above and below the elbow, like in your brachialis (sp), and forearm??

Use those elbow sheaths you can buy at sports authority. They don't provide much support but they keep the joint warm in between sets. Makes a big difference for me.

I am with hugh. I know exactly what you are talking about, and I have a sheath for my left elbow (my right one is pretty much ok) and it has helped some. The pain is not completely gone, but, realisticly, it is probably only half of what it was before.

Go to your nearest feed store and get some DMSO. Take a couple of teaspoons and rub it on your elbow it worked great for my tendonitis.

Have any of you ever seen a chiropractor??? In Northern California there are a lot of D.C.'s and most of them are legit. Being I am 220 lbs. I found a Chiropractor that can accomidate all my needs. When I have pain he fixes it, usually in 1 or 2 visits. He has an incomplete web site I believe the address is www.nomoreinjuries.com. His name is Dr. Douglas Cancel and he works with a lot of pro BBuliders and athletes but he won't give up there name he has a privacy policy. This is by no means the only solution but if you want real results get a chiropractor, I've called and been told that all I need was some alieve for my neck pain with out having to pay a penny.

tendonitis

Sounds like tendonitis. I had to quit doing skull crushers because everytime I did them my tendonitis would flare up. Anti-inflamatories should do the trick. My doctor told me to take lots and lots of Ibuprofen. I asked him about the possibilty of overdoseing and he said,"What are you kidding? You're a big boy, it's not gonna hurt you." If that doesn't help, I know Test will.:D Hope this helps, take care.

hmmm...to answer LCBUTLER, a numbness feeling does travel down my arm, but the pain stays in my elbow. Shit...I have feeling its tendonitis. It has been good for a while...but if I do something stupid (like when me and my friends wrestle and basically beat the shit of each other) it starts to flare up...guess its my own fault. When I do take alot of Ibuprofen, like Intramuscular suggests, it does help somewhat. I think I need to pick up one of those elbow sheaths as well. Thanks for all your input guys.

i agree with intra, i have tendonitis in my elbow my dr. said take 600mg 3 times aday it helped so far. although ive been taking it easy at the gym

I also agree with intra--Depending on your body size, about 2400 mg a day is the safe limit (for your kidneys and liver). You MUST take it consistently--It works best when you build up a certain level in the blood (because the liver inactivates ibuprofen for the first couple of days). Keep at it for a couple of weeks. You'll see wonders. Buy the generic ibuprofen, don't waste your money on the expensive "Motrin" shit. Same stuff.

I am 300 lbs and I take 800 mg twice a day. Don't notice anything until I stop taking it!!!

T-dog--DMSO? Are you talking about dimethyl sulfoxide???

I took glucosamine for one month and stilll taking it it works good for the joints and even rebuilds cartalidge

Get some VOLTAREN.
It is a prescription strength anti-inflamitory.

Go see your Doc and get a prescription, I did, and this shit works wonders for tendonitis. :D

This anti inflammatory really does work well, i have used it before. I need to get my script refilled, my elbow is doing it again.

It is possible that you have a tendonitis of the tricep tendon. Is it bilateral? Symmetrical?

A tendonitis sometimes hurts at the start of a workout and then goes away only to come back as you cool down.

Another possibilty is a bursitis. There is a bursa there on the point of your elbow..... the olecranon bursa. This can swell and get inflammed.

Finally, the ulnar nerve (funny bone) travels through a groove at the elbow. That area clicks and rubs this nerve in my arm when I go heavy or flex the elbow .... like in nose breakers or tricep pushups. If the ulnar nerve is being irritated you will feel a numbness along your forearm leading the the little finger and the lateral half of the ring finger.

GH and Deca may help. More importantly is strictness on your excercises. Drop the weight slightly and don't bounce on skull crushers and don't fully lock out on presses.
