well after hearing on this site that it will take 2-3 yrs to gain 2-3 inches to my arms, and 10 pounds of food is 1 inch that seems forever. i went to my gym today and aleast 80 % of the people are on steroids. i'm 39 yrs old and started lifting 6 months ago and i do see gains but seeing these guys so big just makes me want to do some cycles. how bad is it???

Just stay with it. I remember benching 185 for the first time and how all the x high school jock friends of mine laughed. 4 years later I benched 385. Never took steriods, thought about it but didn't.

At this stage your diet, sleep, and routine will have the greatest effect. Get a good partner. Maybe somebody who is close to your age and as motivated as you are. You may also want to have a doctor run a testosterone level test.

don't let ego get in your head and take it slow.. good things come to those who can wait.. start training hard on all the compound lifts now.. you'll see the gains soon enough..

will doing legs help with testosterone in the upper body ? i was told this is true but who knows.

The more muscle you stimulate the more hormones your body will release. So yes doing legs will help release more hormones but, as carlsuen pointed out, compound lifts are better.

I would seriously get a testosterone test done. Do some research and compare your levels against normal. If they are even a little low your doctor should recomend treatment. If he doesn't, switch doctors.

No need to jump to steroids bro. For one, you've just started lifting -- and lifting a long, arduous process. You've got to have patience and consistency -- the results will come.

No matter what you do there will always be somone bigger, stronger, faster, etc.

Don't worry about everyone else at the gym, worry wbout your own lifts. With a good program and enough food intake you will grow.

And don't use the size of someones arms as a representation as to how strong someone is.

exactly! if that was the case, half the people in my gym would be curling 400 lbs! yet theyre over there on the preacher with 2 10's on the ez bar. size is a good indicator most of the time, but not all.

Sounds like you're looking for a shortcut. Most smart people who are on roids do so after years of hard-work. The one's that don't just shrink as soon as they come off. If you're not in this for the long haul, then you probably don't have what it takes.
