What to do when you become sick...

Hey guys,

I was curious what most of you do when you become sick while on cycle? Right now I'm feeling pretty ugly. I only have cold/flu symtoms but I was curious about everyone else's experience and advice? I started last week with a little bit of dry mouth and drainage and now I'm starting to have a little bit of a sore throat. Nothing too bad. I lifted yesterday and still felt great. I don't want to keep lifting very hard and get sicker though.

Should I keep on cycle like normal or maybe take it down a notch? It seems that I want to keep my blood levels constant right now. I'm on week 5 right now of 500mg/wk of Test-E and 400mg/wk EQ.

I'm sure this is probably a stupid question for most of you but I'm a newbie and I know it. I'd rather ask and make sure.

Thanks guys!

Keep inj. schedule on track. You are correct in wanting to keep the blood levels stable. Just back down the training slightly until you feel better. Good luck Bro.

like bowtech said.

This is not a stupid question. It brings up a very good topic that isn't discussed all that often.

Typically if it's below the chest DO NOT workout..

last time I had an upset stomach and decided to workout cause I thought I was feeling better. I was squatting and ended up falling with 315 lbs on my back cause I got nauseous halfway through the rep and nearly passed out. Luckily no one got hurt but there was a class in the weight room at the time (college gym) so I was a little embarassed to say the least.

First off, if you really wanna decrease your chances of getting sick, start washing your hands 5-6 times a day-especially before meals. I dated a girl that washed her hands all of the time and I think she was sick twice during the whole 5 yrs we dated. When I started washing my hands more often like she did, I've caught a cold 1-2x a year tops where before I would get sick much more often.

I've tried training while sick and it only seems to prolong it. I get well quicker by taking a few days off completely(I still take gear as scheduled-but I may cut out orals until I'm better?) I usually get a couple bottles of Nyquil and a bag of weed and try to sleep as much as possible until I'm better. While I'm sick I drink a lot of water, OJ, and eat modified Whoppers from BK (1/2 bun, no mayo, no cheese) cuz w/ no appetite and no desire to cook they're about the only thing I can choke down. My 1st day back to the gym will be when I'm feeling about 80% better. I take it easy and do an easy workout-like abs, calves, and forearms-maybe 20 mins of cardio too.

Take it easy in the weight room until you feel better. Drink lots of fluids, water mostly. Also take a lot of vitamin C. Your body can only absorb 250mg of it at a time so spread out your dosages. If that doesn't work and you start running a fever go to the doctor for antibiotics and stay out of the gym. This happened to me on week 5 of the same cycle your doing. It slowed me down a little but I cought up quick with about 3 days of nothing but rest.

GL!

Airborne is the best cold formula on the market.... It's got 1000mg of Vitamin C per serving, and tons of herbs and stuff like that..... You start taking it once you feel a cold coming on, take it 4 times per day..... It will GREATLY decrease the severity, and duration of the cold..... I use it all the time, and it's saved me from getting about 4 colds now..... Most of the staff in the hospital I work at SWEAR by it, it works...... You can get it at any drug store.... Works great....

Thanks for the replies guys. I was a little worried of being flamed...

I'll stick with my injection schedule (pun intended). I will take the next few days off from the gym and be very careful when I go back not to over do it. The advice about washing hands 5+ times a day is great advice. I've been trying to do that but maybe it's not enough. I work in a small office with 6 others and I'm sure that's where I've caught it. Damn coworkers.

I'll pick up some vitamin C and get back on track. Thanks again!

airborn is only 5 bux at walmart..i just bought 2 container's. gettin sick myself

Vitamin A and/or raw garlic help a lot too. Nothing beats plain old rest. When I get sick, I keep my ass in bed. I only get up to drink as much water as I can and eat lightly through out the day. I'd probably eat more, but I usually lose my appetite. I'll lay in bed until I can't take it anymore. (36-48 hours) By then, I'm feeling a lot better. If you take it easy, you give your body more energy to focus on the immune response. I used to get so pissed when I worked and people would come to work sick. Instead of staying home and resting, they "push on" and come to work everyday like it's some fucking noble thing. Meanwhile, they're exposing others to their germs and seem to be sick forever.

Bigcracker has a great point about washing hands. A lot of germs are spread by contact. It's easy to get sick from your hands contacting exposed mucous membranes. i.e. rubbing eyes, picking nose. Think about it when you're at the gym next time. Did you just rub your eyes after that last set on the bench? :)

Or did you suck your fingers after just touching the door handle to the gym bathroom stall? Probably not a good idea. The funny part is that most people's kitchen sinks harbor more bacteria than most public bathrooms.

good advice.

Amazingly, what I have found seems to prevent me from getting sick is L-Glutamine. I take 10-20g twice a day. I have been doing that for about 3 years and my gains have been better, and my colds/flus have decreased dramatically. I used to get sick 5-6 times a year, now I might not even get sick once.

Wow thanks for all the replies guys. I'm getting some rest and taking a little Nyquil tonight. My cycle has been awesome so far. I'm very happy with it. I don't want it to goto shit b/c of this.

On a side note, I actually moved out of my old apartment because my roommate had a live in girlfriend who was constantly sick. She worked at a beauty salon and was always sick. I was like, damn if i'm gonna spend all this $$ and then get sick. Damn luck.

+1 on the coworkers thinking it's noble to come in anyhow. I'd rather cover them myself than have them get me sick.

Depending on where you live, this may or may not help--but Sav-On has an Airborne knock-off for $4 a bottle. You drink one tab every 3 hours till you feel better...seems to help

Good gaining!

Avoiding the general public will definitely help prevent you from getting sick-but the real germ mongers are snot nosed kids. Anyone that works around kids is definitely going to be me more prone to getting sick. If you have kids of your own you can always sell them into slavery in Mexico or drown them like a lot of parents do these days. ;)

I keep the shit running, unless you become severaly ill,But this type of year colds and shit are common anyway

unless it's very severe, I keep on running. You usually know when it's a cold/flu, and how they run their course on your body. At the worst times the symptoms are present, I give myself an extra day off. You have to realize how much extra stress you are putting on your body, and how much you can handle, without making the cold symptoms hang around longer.

Bowtech is spot on...

My two cents worth, prevention is better than cure, I always got sick around week two of a course but since I started doing this I haven't been sick at all and my last three courses were hard on the body. (07:00) : multivitamin + VitC 1000mg + garlic tabs + EFA (10:00) VitC 1000mg (12:30) 2ml Bcomplex jab eod (16:00) VitC 1000mg (21:00) VitC 1000mg + garlic tabs + Calc&magne + slow release multi vit. Also taking gluta with every meal, maybe you should up intake on the greens (veggies not weed)...

It is allot and you'll be pissing more than half of it away but this is what I do and has kept me away from colds and shit like that so I can train and grow everyday...

Stay on and fight through it. I got sick in the middle of my 1st cycle, and in the end, I missed about 5 days of gym work, but still made the gains I wanted to in the end. In fact, I think that the gear helped me recuperate quicker.

Shit happens. Cycles are not always run in perfect situations. Get your rest, fluids and medicine - then start moderate workouts when you are ready. You will be back at full blast before you know it.

Good luck bro,

Kitchens are bad, especially sponges! I think the worst was at the last casino I worked at. I'd walk into the bathroom and see guys leave a stall after taking a fat dump, not wash their hands and go straight back to the poker table. I will not play poker anywhere, those guys are dirty bastards. The casino chips on the table games are bad enough. Only god knows where some of them have been.

Thanks for the advice guys. I'm feeling better. I'm still going to take today and tomorrow off. Hopefully Saturday I'll be feeling well enough to lift again. I'll probably stick with the recommended abs + calves + forearms Saturday and them maybe some light arm work Sunday.

Of course if I'm better by then, that means I have to life extra hard now right ? I gotta make up for the lost time.
