I am wondering what all you ladies take for supplements and why? I currently only take a B-Complex Multi vitamin but am looking for some to 1. stabilize moods 2. Curb cravings for JUNK FOOD! I'm a junkie! 3. Help with muscle growth I am starting to train again to get some definition back as I am only getting older and flabbier by the day!! Yuk!

I take...are you ready for this? lol

Flax oil, flax meal, Omega Pill, Whey Protein, Pea Protein, L Glutamine, Amino Sport, Plant Enzymes, Vit C, Magnesium, B12 injections daily, Corti Cut, Glucorell, Cardio Breeze, Estro balance, hmmm. I wonder if Im missing anything.
I do not get cravings unless I eat something bad because then I fu(k up my blood sugar. I take in lots of healthy fats to keep my hormones balances or Im a whack job.
Are you ready to cut the crap out of the diet? It takes tha commitment. U can go to one cheat meal a week.

Wow...that's alot of stuff! I am going to start slowly taking more supp's. My bf takes a shitload of things and is going to help me decide which ones I need. I ordered some Muscle Milk protein (I hope it's good! Peach/Mango) Glucosamine/Chondroitin and continue w the B complex for now.

What have you heard about 5-HTP? I don't know much about it...but it sounds like it is good for helping with mood swings...?

I take:

Whey Protein (when not on a competition diet)
Glucosamine/Chondroiten
Calcium
Multi-Vitamin
BCAAs
Fatburners (currently Trex + Levorex)
Cardio Breeze (mild thermogenic)
Melatonin
Glutamine
L-Carnitine

Chromium Picolinate should work for you.
Take one in the morning and one at night. (200mcg total/ tops)

Daily:

Pant Acid B-5
Zinc
B-25 DMG
Manganese
Zinc
Calcium
MAgnesium
Iron
All-zymes ds
Power-dolph
Chrom Picol
Flax seed oil
COQ10
L-Carnitine
L-Glutamine

Some I take in the AM, some PM and some both.

Now a new study conducted by Dr. John Vincent at the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa shows that chromium picolinate enters the cells directly and stays there?where it can cause problems. In fact, the chromium picolinate reacts with vitamin C and other antioxidants in the cells to produce a "reduced" form of chromium capable of causing mutations in DNA, the genetic material. It's the combination of chromium and picolinate (particularly the reduced form) that can produce dangerous compounds?not the chromium alone.

Remember Elaine Brockovich(the movie about the drinking water)...it was a form of hexavalent chromium

and:

It is not recommended to use chromium picolinate to control blood sugar levels. There is no proof that chromium supplements can help treat or prevent diabetes and other health problems. Methods to assess chromium amounts in the body are lacking, but chromium is stored in hair and blood (serum). However, hair analysis is not a valid method to analyze nutritional status of chromium or any other nutrient.

It is relatively easy to get safe and adequate amounts of chromium (50-200 micrograms per day) by eating a variety of foods like brewer's yeast, calf's liver, American cheese and wheat germ.

People who take chromium picolinate supplements may suffer health problems rather than improved health. Although claims of weight loss, lowered cholesterol and reversal of diabetes are unfounded, researchers have shown that chromium supplements damaged cell chromosomes which are the blueprints for a cell's function and reproduction. It is generally thought that cancer starts with a change to the genetic material in a cell causing it to grow and reproduce without restraint.

^^ Based on that, I would leave the chromium alone and focus on adding some healthy fatty snacks between meals..assuming you do onot have a pre-existing sugar problem.

Since we're spliting hairs...

Good natural sources of chromium include carrots, potatoes, broccoli, whole-grain products, and molasses.

In pill form the Picolinate is added to help the body absorb chromium more efficiently.

As far as studies one can spend the entire day finding out study that will counter act the other.

YMMV - so do your own reseach and base you choices on your findings or your doctor's finding. (I've done both and made enormous improvements in my life and health in the past 18 months.)

Tribulus (Tribestan)

I've tried guggulsterones - I didn't notice any benefit - would you let me know how you do with them and how you do with the Tribulus?

:)

Dietex (from VPX) helps to curb the ol' appetite. I've been using it thru 2 competition preps & has made the dieting bearable.

Well with the guggulsterones, omg I felt like I was on fire all the time, it was insane, didn't like the feeling too much, I would feel so hot that I would get annoyed.

As for the tribulus, I start this tomorrow, and I will definiately let you know, how I do with it, and my opinion on it :) Anything for Miss Velvett. ;)

WHy are u taking tribulus? You'll get oily skin, start breaking out real good, & gain some weight. I personally woudn't bother w/ it.

some good replies here. My advice is taking ALA to stabilize moods/stop carvings becuase it helps stabilize blood sugar. For muscle growth- go w/the basics- whey & creatine.

Agreed...it could possibly bump test levels a bit..you will most likely alos get the sides of oily skin if not acne etc.

It might also fat loss as it seems to break fats down to EFA's newer studies are indicating...it alos might help detox the liover to some degree where sugar levels are concerned - hence the possible fat loss.

Trainer wants me to try it out to see how it works for me. A few of his girls have taken it, with no side affects, and have had some good results.

Yes 10lbs remember ;) And the diet finally looks like a mass diet!!! I think I may actually have a hard time eating it all lol.

Sure you dont. lol Me neither! ;)

Anyone have some suggestions for lunch? Tuna is pretty much the only thing that immediately comes to mind. Any other suggestions of what is "packable" and convinient while @ work?

Also, I've heard that certain Creatine's can make women bloated and such.... A while back I used to use this liquid creatine just for women. I've heard debates on whether liquid or powdered creatine is better. Is it important that I use creatine? If so, which brand do you have the most luck with?

Thanks! :)

Regular creatine monohydrate is the kind that most people get bloated with. Creatine Ethyl Ester HCL does not usually bloat you.

M24K, if you don't mind me asking, how tall are you? That weight just seems so low. Yet I see your workouts and you are one strong chica :chomp:
